Wanted to start this build thread 2yrs ago when i actually got the donor bike but decided to wait as i knew i was still a ways out from finding enough parts to keep me motivated to build it still. So 2 yrs ago roughly i found a total basket case far sale locally, bike had been for sale for over a year and i always looked past the add, until one day i took a closer look at the pics and spotted a few sr parts on it including the sr frame. It was a mad dash to go get it then ,once i had gotten the address from the seller i looked it up and realized it was in the middle of the worst neighborhood in watts in downtown l.a. needless to say i almost passed on going to get the bike ..... went anyways and when i got there i got a big surprise it was an sr frame probably an old race bike or practice bike that had all the good stuff taken off except for a few khi parts and bolts, best part yet the title was there matched engine and frame numbers and was in ricky carmicheals name....score....

The bike has been owned by this old pastor for the last 5 yrs ,his friend had gotten from someone he did work for on his house construction related, the bike was just sitting outside for yrs he told him when he saw it on the construction site. I will post daily pics of all the progress I've done over the last year or so already......and im still looking for some khi ti bolts to make it complete so if anyone has anything thanks in advance!

This is going to be sooo good! That's insane those brake pads are that thin. Love seeing the little details.
Does the brake caliper feel really light compared to a stock one...in general?

Nice rescue project. Curious if the guy knew what it was and what you paid.

And i was lucky to get my hands in an atual take off seat that has an sr250 seat base , you can see the plastic molding is unlike any production seat base that was ever sold to public

For a brief second, in the one pic I thought the air box was being used as a fruit bowl. That would’ve been great. Anyways, awesome find.

That seat is crazy! Didn't know such a thing existed on the factory bikes. Really looking forward to more updates!

Fit up up the back half of the bike everything went together pretty well ...lots of puzzle going on there even though it doesn't look like it

Where did you find the air box? I believe I have the same one on a 2000 I just picked up. Going to be following this build. My carbon frame guards look a little different than yours
