I have had a few of these plano bikes.. I had a fun time building them. There are a few builds on here of the bikes. It does appear to be a practice bike. There isn't a whole lot you would really do to make it a race bike replica. Such as, suspension, Hpp Cylinder from 92-99. Also does the pipe have any number on the pc badge? Appears you are near the Dallas area. Look up Scotty Haynes he still has a few parts left. If you are interested in selling id be interested and would love to restore it. Robertmartin517@yahoo.com

I can't believe I missed this thread. Whatever happened to this bike?

It’s to hard to really tell if it was a race bikemor prwctice bike. Like allmother teams at the end of the season everything goes into a pile they build what’s left of the bikes, and sell them. Usually the really trick stuff gets taken off.

This bike is currently in a few boxes in my garage. I tore it down to a rolling chassis, and split the cases about a year ago, and then it went to the back burner. Crank was rusted but looks savable. I have been working through my unfinished projects during the quarantine, and this one is up next. I'm planning to send the crank off to http://crankworks.com/ soon for a rebuild, get a set of gaskets and seals, and start putting it back together.

I will be putting it up for sale once it's buttoned up. I'm not going for a 100 pt restoration - just a solid running and good looking bike. I'll definitely post an update here when I do. Any suggestions on a fair asking price?

I have a 716 Jersey from Plano Honda. If you're going that route. If anyone knows what Buttpatch Gio had I might have some pants too. Awesome find.

The bike is going back together already. All new OEM Honda bearings, gaskets, etc. Bike was disassembled but kept very well organized thanks to Trace!

I can provide some updates on this plano bike and another!  They were listed for sale a while back this bike and a #9 plano honda of jacki short. A buddy of mine was looking for a 97 cr125 to restore into a scott sheak tribute as he was really local to us. I saw these pop up , the transaction was made and shipping was arranged from texas up to Massachusetts. The main focus was on the #9 bike as it was in better shape. I stripped it to the frame, everything was vapor blasted and rebuilt, tabs were welded on the frame for the skidplate and water pump guard.  The bike was 100% gone thru for looks and function. Some things werent able to be sourced , such as the pc triples and ignition cover. The 99 cylinder and powervalves are pretty rare to comeby aswell. The IT 42 was recently traded for another project bike, but is still intact and running . Ive included some pics to  show the before and after. I hope this helps shed some light on the subject. This scott sheak tribute bike will not be ridden or sold. Its on display at the owners shop.532FBE77-778C-4A38-97CB-0B6145989596

Very clean build, holmes

Thank you! Ive got a couple other builds on here, a 96 and 94 cr 250. My 87 cr500 won the broke to built contest last year and was bike of the day awhile back on here. Currently doing a 2000 rm125 for the contest this year.

mitchlovin, I love the bikes you have shown. Plano Honda Racing was a great time for me , very special to be a part of something as Suoercross and Nationals that so many people love so much. Scott Sheak was a pleasure to have on the team. I was very sorry to hear of his passing.
Although I still follow the races I have never really spent any time on this type media. It’s super exciting to that there is still so much enthusiasm over the Plano Honda bikes. I’m happy to help with any info I can but just have to realize it was a while ago and I may have lost track of some of the things about the team but wouldn’t take anything for the times we had during those years. Thanks again for what you are doing.

Steve Wagner

Awesome work and I love the fact that people are maintaining history with bikes like this. Definitely inspiring for more builds to come!
