Hey guy, I might pick up a beat down 1996 CR250 as a project bike and I am wondering how hard it may be to source OEM parts for the bike? Has anyone been to the shops recently in Can/US and been able to get parts easily? Are there parts that are no longer available? I am just wondering about things like cranks, Power valves etc. Bolt ons won’t be an issue but if a CDI or magneto or something like that is toast I am concerned it may be a lengthy search. This will be a build to ride long term for fun bike for the track and trails.
Thanks.

You can find most parts but you won't find oem plastics or decals, radiator guards and some other oem parts. Check Rockymountainatvmc.com they have oem parts.

parts are indeed a problem. Open any Fische and note the unavailable list. Every major part on the bike is unavailable. There are a good supply of eBay parts in various stages of disrepair to get by with. Nos oem are not easy to source.

Buy the cleanest, low hr bike you can find....you can usually find what you need for these bikes, but left hand cases, some trans gears & shafts are NLA....I needed a couple gears for mine recently, NLA ...from Honda. But within a few days I found both on eBay ..NOS...100.00 each .... These were great bikes & most engine parts from 92-2001 interchange....good luck
