So I decided to start the restoration process on my 94' CR 500. After listing it for some time to sell I didn't get much interest. Most of the people I spoke to wanted a bike that was turn key restored. So i stripped her down today and now starts the long process of getting it back to that liken new condition. Here's a few pictures from today. I plan on replacing a ton of things on it. Rebuilding most of the components. I'll relist the bike once it's complete. But then again it would probably be a piece of art. Lol

And your gonna sell that when done... That might be a mistake... Unless it's to fund a KX500???

Let me know what you think of GPI hoses. I am thinking about getting a set for my FC since they are way cheaper than most USA made hoses, which are ridiculously priced.

I've had them before on my RMZ450 and they were great, way cheaper than the CV4 ones and looked exactly the same to me.

Also, sweet build! Can't wait to see it done. Waiting to see how thoserear number plates and fender look!

Well we will see. Might be a keepsake. Lots of love going into this one.

Why is it there is always one bolt that does not want to come out. Took me over an hour to grind this thing down and remove it. Photo

I have special plans for the hubs. Going to have to buy a new rear sprocket now. I was hoping to salvage this one. Should be 2 weeks and I'll have new wheels, hubs.

Danben111 :

Where did you get the blue plastics from?

I've been trying, on and off, for a few years now, without any luck.

Thanks for any help you can give.

Thanks.

Pricey, but, hell, it's the way it goes. I worked at the Acerbis and UFO distributors in the late 80s / early 90s, and ran blue plastics on my 500. The things you don't think of - stocking up on limited production parts - bites you in the wallet decades later.

I hear that. Also really hard to find good parts if needed. I did find a Honda oem parts dealer that has schematics on every single part. He has a lot in stock which is nice.

I've had people tell me there has never been a peak cr 500.
Well here is George jobe's 1992 cr500 that Mitch Payton made for him for the 1992 mxgp.

This is probably my favorite build on Vital right now. You have great taste. This thing needs to have permanent spot in the living room when it is done!

Thank you
it's going to be more of a tribute to the peak Honda more than an exact replica I wanted to incorporate some of the new processes that they do to bikes. Cerakote, steel braided lines , stronger wheels, basically put my personal touches to it. as much as I really would like to do an exact replica I think my add ons will give it some more character and look pretty sick.
Yes this will be going into special place in the garage. I'm even going to keep the old tank just to start her up I will not be putting any fuel in the new tank
I will have more photos to post when the wheels and frame come back I'm currently working on the swingarm and I need to find someone that does anodizing so I can get the fork tubes done.
