1993 Livery KX450F

Edited Date/Time 8/27/2018 1:44pm
I started with a leftover 2015 KX450F that I snagged up for under cost and had all winter to think about what I wanted to do with it. I started with some plastics (I always keep the stock ones mint and stored all packed away) and a Pro Circuit slip one. Somewhere along the way, I started thinking about doing a throwback kit, but was unimpressed by what I’ve seen mass produced. Then I got the idea to make my own kit for the best looking bike ever made, the 1993 KX250.

I reached out to Evo MX about a throwback kit for 93, and they were on board, but told me they weren’t really up for trying to make a 450 swingarm logo since it would have to be completely redone, so I downloaded Inkscape and played around with it for 8 hours and knocked it out myself...

This morning I decided to just go through with it and get the forks anodized blue.

Who are you going to have to the blue forks for you? I'm shopping around to refinish the forks on my 93 KX250.

I will see if i can find out for you too. i had planned on doing this about 6 months ago, but ended up going in a different direction. It is going to cost you about $450 + shipping.

That's right in line with others that I have talked to so far.

I dig the 90s look. I get more of a 1997 vibe from this though.

I work at a Kawasaki dealership and we have negotiated rates with some show for stuff. I’ll see what I can get quoted.

Looks damn sweet so far. I've always like the old school graphics on the newer Kawasaki's.

Not digging the numbers but that's just my personal taste. I would have went with N-Style like numbers (long and thin).

I love what you did with the graphics and seat, and using green bars like they did stock back in the day is a nice touch. Can't wait to see the blue forks.

Keep up the good work!

Very cool. I am going to have to do this. Where did you get the seat cover from?

Sorry everyone, I’ve been off here for quite some time. Frank, I had EVO MX print the seat cover.

Looks good. There's a place in SoCal who can anodize your fork tubes blue. I forget the name at the moment, but they are the place who anodizes parts fro PC.

I should have guessed Frank at EVO-MX did the seat cover. The man is a genius.
