Last weekend I picked up, to what I thought would be a pretty straight bike. And it is... for the most part.
The trip entailed a 1200km roundtrip, including two nights in Holland.

What you're looking at here is a Husqvarna CR125 1993, with an aftermarket Öhlins shock. I think they used Showa originally.

I got wind of the bike through a fellow Italian Husqvarna enthusiast and it so happened that I was parting out a 1991 CR125 Husqvarna. With the income from that breakage, I funded this bike.

On the pictures the bike looked very well maintained and a general low hour bike. Note the almost new looking Öhlins.

The following pictures are from a few days after we got back home.

Now before going there, he had told me that the engine needed work and that his mechanic told him it only needed a new piston. Heard that story before?

Well, I took the engine out, and this is how it looks so far:

I'm crossing my fingers that the nicasil will be saved, as its quite expensive over here. Besides that, it will get new seals, bearings, a piston and a new conrod. Stay tuned.

That's a cool bike . We only got the WXC/WXE models here in the US that year.

Is that dirt inside the crankcase? Overall it looks great, but inside the motor looks like poo!

It indeed is!

Tonight I took the engine apart, inside looks REALLY good... besides the crankcase.

I honestly don't know, but I wouldn't be surprised, the filter fell apart as soon as I touched it. The rest of the bike is spotless however.

Looks like it took a swim the last time it was out.

If you find a rod let us know where you found it. As far as I know they are pretty rare. When I rebuilt the engine in my bike I was going to put a new rod in it just so the entire engine was fresh but I couldn't locate a rod any where.

Rods are plentiful, you can get several different grades form cast to CNC machined in a couple of days Smile

I forgot to include the name of the seller "Niccolo Querci" through FaceBook. He does alot for the Cagivas and they share most engine parts.

As far as I remember it was the rear fender along with the engine that did it for me, but there’s a Facebook group dedicated to the Husqvarnas of Italy, I would ask there. Very helpful for parts as well.
