I told myself that I was going to try to revive it.

If you wanted a brand new works looking pipe, simply buy a new platinum and you can have a plating shop strip the nickel plating. Then it’s a raw pipe a d you can sand and heat the welds. Cost me $20 at my local plating shop here. Bike looks great!

I've been. Each time you post something. I'm always curious about old Honda builds. Sometimes others have great ideas and tips as they rebuild something. Sometimes parts show up I haven't seen before. If its a Honda, I'm always interested.

Oh ok, it's because I do not see anyone commenting on my message, compared to the beginning or I started posting.
Of course we're in real time now, so it's slower

I’ve been watching as well. I built an 89 last year and the builds are my favorite part of this site. Keep it up!

Its always surprising what people do for parts that's are no longer available. Whether it's paying high dollar for NOS parts or fabricating your own. There's always something to learn. I honestly think in the last year and a half I've been a member here on Vital, is the time period I've learned the most about my own bikes. The build section is also my favorite. Repair manuals don't teach you everything.

If I missed it forgive me, but please elaborate on the steps taken to restore plastics. Excellent job.

|

12/4/2019 8:14 AM

After a month of waiting, the frame is back paint and it does not work, bad color and dull and more lack of paint, traces of rust ...
In short he is back to repaint this time if I hope as it should.

So I'll try to find specific words for the Google translator to understand and transcribe what I'm saying.

first, the cleaning phase.
I use brake cleaner degreaser, then dishwashing soap and green scocth-brite

Photo
Photo

then use car body sandpaper with the water, from different grains from 80 to 2000

and finally, I have a blow of heat gun, to give back the gloss disappeared

That bike gonna be a killer Maxx ! Really nice and clean build

Can't wait to see you ride that beast at Les Pitchouns in 2020 !

Thank you kindly for the refurbished plastic protocol. Your results are amazing and I will now do my best work on a 90 CR125 sitting in the garage.

Sorry to hear about the first paint attempt. Best of luck on the second go-around.
Super pumped to see the assembly when it comes to fruition.

Best,
JJM
