Anybody know the best easiest way to get some wheels rebuilt ? I see all the DNA wheelsets for modern bikes and of course they don't go back that far but my idea besides powder coating the hubs and finding spokes n new rims to lace is seeing if new spacers could be made on a newer wheel to accommodate what's probably larger axles. I can have spacers n inserts made easily I just don't know if the width of any newer cr hubs varies between sprocket and disc spacing. Anybody else tackle wheel rebuild issues?

Was gonna say, Dubya is probably your best bet. I don't think anyone recommends the DNA wheels. The only generally recommended budget wheels are the Tusk Impacts, but they may not go back that far.

Talon have hubs listed for 89 CR's, they also fit 87's, The Aus Talon importer builds up wheels with Buchanon spokes & rims of your choice as well as selling hubs, I had these done for my 125 project with 18" rear rim in 125 width, They come with captive spacers like modern KTM's, So fit treads, Discs & sprockets & away you go, hopefully your Talon agents do the same, Not cheap but by the time you buy spokes, rims, new hubs, bearings, spacers & have them laced if not able to do it yourself it works out probably not much different

That clutch cover looks wrong like it's for an 86/85.
Correct, 84-86, My bike is an 85 with 87 swingarm & forks.

All good mate the original topic was 87, I just commented because I am running the 87 wheels & some 86 parts when I can find them or a donor bike, Top end, Airbox & complete ignition, This is where I'm at now, VRP subby, Ohlins,Rear disc conversion, PWK carb, Protaper billet top clamp, late model KTM footrests, 250 seat etc etc, been collecting parts & fabbing up for couple of years, need to get this thing done, cant wait to ride it!

Make sure you use anti seize on the bolts on that vrp subframe the bolts like to seize in them I know from personal experience.

I had my hubs cerakoted on my 91 kx500 build. New spokes and anodized rims, they turned out pretty good I think. Dubya can do cerakoting and most coating shops as well.
