Hey guys,

New to Vital MX and just getting into a bike project. I just picked up an 1986 Honda CR 250. Overall the bike is complete and starts. The plan for this summer is to get it running well and then maybe look at a restoration in the future.

Open to all tips and definitely looking for good places to buy parts in Canada. Any suggestions are more than welcome.

Thanks and stoked to to get into it!

Great bike and engine, I would check the water pump as they're known for rotting out. That would be #1 priority, and then suspension.

Finding parts will be difficult, most parts I’m able to find for my 87 and 89 cr250 come from the UK. A good place to start is http://vintagebikeads.com, You could also try eBay for oem parts if dealers out in Canada don’t have anything left.

I have a 1986 CR125 that I am about to start working on. It runs but needs a new piston and rings. It also needs new fenders and other worn out parts.

Working on the exhaust and noticed the silencer is completely empty. Would any one have suggestions on where to find a good used one or maybe some after market options?

I put an FMF TurbineCore 2 universal fir. It sticks out a little bit but runs well. I’m happy with it.

You might be able to find a replacement core that you can put in the original silencer and then just repack it. That would allow you to keep the original look.

Bill's Pipes has a couple different options. http://billspipes.com

Would take a little fab work to make it fit, but shouldn't be too hard.
