I am getting close to assembling the bike and when replacing the front wheel hub (brake hub slides into this), noticed the brake hub side bearing just slides in..is not a pressed fit. I had to press the opposite side in. Both the old and new bearing fit the same..just slide in. Never seen this before, but by chance is this by design?

Hey retro, I wish I had the answer for you, but if you post this in the Old School Moto section, I know you'll get the correct reply. Good luck.

Should be a press fit. I probably have a good hub if you need one.

Those old Suzuki hubs wear out, as stated above the bearings should be press fit or you will have play in the bearing/hub. You could try taking a punch and going around the circumference on the hub where the bearing installs to raise the surface... short term solution but would get you some riding in.

Thanks guys, I figured as much. I’ve powder coated the hubs already, so I’m going to take in to the machine shop I use and have him knurl the inner bearing seat. Thanks again!
