My pack rat hoarding impulse buying ways got to me again. Ended up buying a 04 125 from a buddy for 700$ it came as a roller with the engine apart. Plan was to get it together for as cheap as possible for the last race at my Local track for the year...didn't happen. Oh well.

Here's a little before and after porn for ya of the frame cleaning. The bike came with the txr plastic kit conversion and it took everything in my power not to take it directly to the burn pile and set it ablaze. I don't know why people spend 350$ on that kit but to each his own. Ended up selling it. And out the original plastics on which I know are not too appealing to the eye in they're decrepit state but it's better than txr.

Sorry I don't have more pics of the build in progress. But as of right now it's very far from done so I figured I'd bring ya along for the rest of it

Road it around and coming off my 17 crf450 this bike feels like it's got the power of a dead raccoon. Any suggestions on how to make these things sing?
I'm thinking of a 38mm carb my buddy told me to get
Fly wheel weight
134 kit

Any suggestions are appreciatedSmile

At the end of the day, it will always be a dead raccoon compared to a 450! Hahaha but that is the joy of the buck and a quarters. Let her sing without the 134 kit, keep it as close to stock as possible for longevity, and just ride it!

I just went from a 38mm stock Mikuni to a 36mm Keihin for my RM. I can’t speak for the CR’s, but I know the 38’s can be a bit for the 125’s

I like! Frame turned out great.

I guess you’re thinking 38mm PWK Airstriker for the carb? I got one for my 250 and will consider the same for my 125 when I get around to it.

Yes, switch to the 38 airstriker and get an 07 airbox and airboot to help it breath. I put a cyrca high flow rear fender. Some people even drill holes in the airbox to help it breath. Its almost suffocating the carb.

I wish I could run across a deal like that on a 3rd gen CR125 or YZ125. Everyone I find around here people seem to think they are made of gold.

That's kinda what the bike felt like when I rode it. You think an air striker? My buddy said to put a 38mm pwm on it

Yeah I hear ya even super roached bikes people think if they put a "fresh top end in it" it automatically makes it a 1500$ bike. That's why I have so many bikes right now I just can't pass up a good deal. I have 5 older two strokes and I havnt pains over 1000 fo Any. There are deals out there just keep your eyes peeled and ask friends

Don't want to de-rail the thread but can you enlighten us as to what EXACTLY you got from HF to do your bead blasting. Ive wanted to but never ventured into bead blasting and everyone says its easy with a gun and some media but I'm not confident that id order the right stuff.

I used this one for my first frame cleaning. Its cheap and will probably break but it works. The media I use is a glass bead the higher number the grit the finer the bead and better finish you'll get.

I had an 04 a couple if years ago. I put a 134 kit. Still dog slow. Nothing will help the 04 become fast. Bad year (rc power valves). Mid range only motor.

Good news and bad news in the bike: good news Did a little ride around on my home track to break the bike in and it actually kinda rips! I think the carb, air boot, pipe and silencer and a little hair cut on the head will really make this bike sing! Bad news something is whining in the bottom end (which was put together by a questionable source) but splitting the cases will give me a chance to blast the cases and make sure everything is good in the engine. Always looking on the bright side!
