I like the idea to get more done on Friday with qualifying but I don’t know how much different the track could look like by Saturday’s race.  It might be a lighter and less hectic same-day Saturday schedule to coordinate with all the things they have to do and commitments like to the fans if some of the riding was moved to Friday but some riders might like keeping things warm.  To me it looks like a long day with constant action on Saturday so they could be tired by the race time in the evening if the day starts early with it’s constant timed action and expectations.  

Psychologically, I like a day for racing versus qualifying riding but then the fans would miss Saturday race day live.  It doesn’t look like too many fans are there but the difference would be everyone would be expected to make it a 2 day weekend instead of just focusing on just 1 it they arrive Friday night and get ready for a 1 day commitment.  2 days means they probably would have to get there and set up on Thursday for all the teams instead of just the select riders on press day.  Would it be harder for the truck drivers if the race is all day Saturday likely driving on Sunday and then expected to be back somewhere else sooner as a 2 day deal.  I am not sure about track crew and maintenance if all the sudden they were expected to be there and get paid for 2 days.  If it is a lighter race day schedule would it just mean that the fans and media routine would be extended instead of having to ride back and forth to the truck that could take away from a lot of the race day fun where people get to watch the mechanics and riders qualifying with the pit pass.  It’s not always an easy schedule to be s racer on race day but they get used to it.  

The riders comment on how much they practice during the week like on starts and give good credit to it and how they can always improve.  If they are coming back from injury they may say “only 3 times back on the bike” but I imagine they could ride less.  I think the plan they have these days is not all bike but other cardio like road bikes, off-road mountain bikes, the gym, or cross train.  No doubt it is a full time job if you count the whole week for the whole team and the racing may look like easy cruising around the track but to be within seconds of the leader on tough diverse tracks is rare and requires full commitment to any schedule.
