Saturday Qualifying Action at the MXoN

We've got a photo gallery of action from Saturday's qualifying races at the Motocross of Nations at Matterley Basin in Winchester, England, that you can access by clicking here. There's plenty of info in the captions that describe the action, but Team USA was on top after the qualifiers, with James Stewart and Ryan Villopoto winning their respecting MX1 and MX2 motos, and Ivan Tedesco taking a second in his Open-class moto. (A team's top two finishes counted toward Sunday's scores.)

Team Belgium was the second seeded squad, with Steve Ramon's win in the Open moto, and Stefan Everts' second-place finish. France was third with a second (Christophe Pourcel in MX2), and a fourth (Yves DeMaria in Open).

Attendance was huge for Saturday, with a very enthusiastic crowd on hand. Sunday should be absolutely nuts. The Americans are hoping for a return of the cool, dry weather that graced the facility on Sunday, while many of the European teams are openly admitting to doing rain dances, figuring that a muddy race will help top the scales in their advantage.

Check back on Sunday for more from Matterley Basin.
