Dean Wilson had wrapped up the 250 class title last weekend in Steel City, but with two titles still on the line, and one last chance for everyone to show what they've got, the Lucas Oil AMA Pro Motocross Championship season finale at Pala Raceway provided plenty of action.

Blake Baggett grabbed the early lead, though Dean Wilson (who's sort of hidden behind Blake) took over the top spot by the end of lap one.

The 250 class ran first this week, and Blake Baggett jumped out front early, but was passed by his Monster Energy Pro Circuit Kawasaki teammate, Dean Wilson, shortly afterwards. Behind the lead duo were some familiar faces, including Tyla Rattray (Monster Energy Pro Circuit Kawasaki), and Marvin Musquin (Red Bull KTM). The top four stayed pretty much just like that throughout the moto. Afterwrads, there was some tension between Baggett and Wilson, and apparently Blake thought that Dean was jumping across his line. We haven't seen the replay of the TV interview, but when asked about it after the conclusion of the second moto, Blake had nothing to say about it.

Justin Bogle had some fun while leading moto two.

Jason Anderson and Alex Martin battling in moto two.

When the gate dropped for moto two, it was Jimmy DeCotis who got the early jump, but it was his GEICO Honda teammate, Justin Bogle, who had finished tenth in the first moto, was leading at the end of lap one, and he hung onto the front spot for the first ten laps before giving way to Dean Wilson. Dean had clawed his way up from fifth on the first lap, and his 1-1 day was the perfect cap to a championship season. Blake Baggett came from even deeper in the pack (ninth on the first lap), to finish third for the moto. That was good for second overall, and Marvin Musquin's pair of fourths put him on the podium once again. It's good to see the former MX2 World Champ back up to speed after a very rough start to his season(s) after moving here.

Dean Wilson capped off the season with another overall win, and was joined on the podium by Blake Baggett, and Marvin Musquin.

Tyla Rattray finished in fourth spot, but locked down second overall in the series by three points over Baggett.

Heading into the 450 action, Ryan Villopoto (Monster Energy Kawasaki) and Ryan Dungey (Rockstar Makita Suzuki) were only separated by 14 points, so while it wasn't uncomfortably close, Villopoto needed to avoid problems to lock up the title. But on the other hand, you know he wanted to win it.

Mike Alessi grabbed the first moto holeshot.

Mike Alessi (Red Bull KTM) holeshot in moto one, flanked by Nico Izzi (Valli Motorsports Rockstar Yamaha) and Kyle Regal (BTOSports.com/BBMX/Palmetto Suzuki). Chad Reed (TwoTwo Motorsports Bel Ray Racing) was up there, but went down in the first turn, leaving him 31st after lap one. The championship leaders also had some work to do, finishing the first lap in ninth and tenth spots, and that's exactly what they did. They worked their way past Izzi, AJ Catanzaro, Regal, Brett Metcalfe, Jake Weimer, and Colton Facciotti. By that point Justin Barcia (American Honda Racing) had done some work of his own, taking over the lead from Alessi on lap four. Villopoto was the first to get by, moving into the lead with five laps remaining, and it took Dungey a couple extra laps to make his way past for second.

The race at Pala featured good weather, a solid crowd, and the racing you'd expect at a final round. Here, Ryan Villopoto and Ryan Dungey were working their way up through the pack.

In moto two, Dungey and Villopoto broke out their Team USA MXoN gear. Dungey grabbed the moto, Villopoto took home the title.

In the second moto, Justin Brayton (Muscle Milk/Toyota/JGRMX) was the first one to round turn one, but Chad Reed lead by the time the hit the scoring stand the first time. Once again, Villopoto and Dungey were just inside the top ten, and working their way forward, and like the first moto, Justin Barcia took over the lead and ran out front for the majority of the moto. But this time around it was Ryan Dungey who got by with two laps to go, which was good for the overall win. Barcia finished second and Villopoto seemed content to ride out the moto in third, safely locking up the Lucas Oil AMA Pro Motocross Championship 450 title, which goes along nicely with his Monster Energy Supercross crown from earlier in the year. All-in-all, it's a pretty sweet cap to the comeback following the seriously broke leg suffered in the 2009 season.

With the 450 class number one plate, Villopoto made it a clean sweep in 2011.

Ashley Fiolek (American Honda Racing) came to Pala with a 21-point lead over Jessica Patterson (DNA Shred Stix / Star Racing / Yamaha) in the WMX championship chase, so her mission was pretty simple...ride two safe motos to clinch. Of course Patterson's goal was maximum points, and that's what she got. She did battle with Tarah Gieger (Troy Lee Designs / Lucas Oil / Honda) a bit in the second moto, but otherwise, it was a pair of relatively easy moto wins. But in the title chase it was Fiolek scoring another number one plate for her Honda, with a 14-point advantage.

Tarah Gieger and Ashley Fiolek lead the drag race to the first turn in the second moto. Gieger got there first.

Gieger and Fiolek traded 3-2 and 2-3 finishes, with Gieger getting the nod for second. Vicki Golden was consistent with a pair of fourth-place finishes; and Women's World Champ, KTM-mounted Stephanie Laier, was fifth after a 6-5 day.
