There has been some shuffling back and forth at the top of the MX1 leader board over the last couple rounds of the World Championship Motocross series. Monster Yamaha’s David Phillipaerts (Italy) jumped back into the points lead over current champ, Teka Suzuki’s Steve Ramon (Belgium), following the 12th round of the 2008 campaign at Loket, in the Czech Republic.

Phillipaerts (3-1) took his second overall GP victory of the season over Sebastien Pourcel (5-2, France/Kawasaki) and Jonathan Barragan (2-5 Spain/KTM). Steve Ramon (4-4) finished fifth overall on the day, which handed the red plate (which signifies the points leader) back to Phillipaerts.

MX1 Overall from Loket

1. David Philippaerts (ITA, Yamaha), 45 points

2. Sebastien Pourcel (FRA, Kawasaki), 38 p.

3. Jonathan Barragan (ESP, KTM), 38 p.

4. Maximilian Nagl (GER, KTM), 37 p.

5. Steve Ramon (BEL, Suzuki), 36 p.

In MX2 action, South African Tyla Rattray (Red Bull KTM) continues to lead the championship race. He and his Red Bull KTM teammate Tommy Searle (Great Britain) traded the top two spots in each moto, with Searle getting the nod for the overall by taking the second moto win. Frenchman Anthony Boissiere took third overall on his KTM with a 5-3 score.

With no points gained or lost on the day, Rattray maintains his 20-point lead in the MX2 standings.

The GP competitors will now take a two-week break before their final three round sprint to the end of the 2008 season in Dublin, Ireland; Lierop in the Netherlands; and the season finale in Faenza, Italy.
