Saturday night was the last California round of the 2008 Monster Energy Supercross season, and though he had to battle back from a crash, L&M Racing / San Manuel Band of Mission Indians / Yamaha’s Chad Reed once again topped the results in the Supercross class. That gives him his fifth win of the season, and a sweep of the California rounds.

Once again, Honda Red Bull Racing’s Davi Millsaps was the biggest threat to Reed’s win streak, as he lead the first two laps before Reed got by him. That lasted until lap 13, when Chad slid out in a sand section that he never did look comfortable in. Millsaps took over the lead for four more laps, but in the end Reed was able to retake the top spot.

Monster Energy Kawasaki’s Timmy Ferry put on a great charge, moving from fifth at the start to second at the end, as he went by Millsaps on the last lap. He was also within sight of Reed at the finish, and seems to be inching closer to the front each week.

In West Coast Lites action, Boost Mobile Yamaha of Troy’s Jason Lawrence took his third straight win, and along with it, the points lead. Rockstar Makita Suzuki’s Ryan Dungey had lead the series to this point, but after a crash in the whoops (and a charge through the pack from 11th), it dropped him to sixth for the night. That leaves Lawrence with a two-point advantage as they head to their next-to-last round in Houston next weekend.
