The traveling circus that makes up the AMA Toyota Motocross Championship moved north to the Prairie City SRVA (better known as Hangtown) for round two of the 2008 season. Monster Energy Kawasaki’s James Stewart put in another dominating performance to grab his fourth straight moto win, and second straight overall, and judging by his speed, that number will grow as we go through the season. Behind him, his hard-charging teammate (and fellow Floridian), Timmy Ferry put in two great rides to come through the pack both times for second. Honda Red Bull Racing’s Ivan Tedesco made his first podium appearance in quite some time to grab third overall via a 4-3 score.

Stewart now has a 20-point lead over Ferry in MX1 after two races (100 to 80), and Davi Millsaps occupies third in the standings four points behind Ferry.

In the Lites class, it was more green, with current AMA MX2 champ, Ryan Villopoto (Monster Energy Pro Circuit Kawasaki) showing some dominance of his own, powering away to big leads in both motos. His closest pursuer this week was Rockstar Makita Suzuki’s Ryan Dungey, whose 2-3 beat out the 5-2 turned in by Jason Lawrence (Boost Mobile Yamaha of Troy).

The points are much tighter in the MX2 division, with Ryan Villopoto holding a nine-point advantage over Jason Lawrence. Austin Stroupe completes the Monster Energy Pro Circuit Kawasaki bookend, and is only two points behind Lawrence.
