2007 White Bros World Vet Championship

Think the title of last weekend’s Vet World Motocross Championships at Glen Helen Raceway is a bit overblown? Not really. This is the 23rd annual edition, and a sampling of countries attending included the Netherlands, Brazil, Canada, Australia, Cambodia, Venezuela, Sweden, Venezuela, and Japan. There were also competitors from across the U.S., and who can blame them for coming out? There was good racing, a fast and tough track, and enough classes available to make sure no one went home complaining about a lack of riding time.

The 30 + Pro class is always the highlighted racing class on Sunday, and this year Doug Dubach won his tenth title in 14 years. He’d been skunked for the last few, taking his last 30+ win in 2002. But this time around he had competition from Craig Decker, Gordon Ward, and Australian Cameron Taylor, but came away at the end of the day with a 1-1 score and yet another title. Not bad for the self-described 44-year-old businessman.

Another highlight each year is the Edison Dye Lifetime Achievement Award, and Tom White does an awesome job of inducting a new member to Glen Helen’s Walk of Fame. This time around, the honor went to Bob Hannah, and Bill Buchka, Keith McCarty, Dave Arnold and Bevo Forte were on hand to tell tales about the Hurricane.

If you want to start getting ready for next year’s race, there are classes for age groups from 30+ through 70+, all skill levels, and lots of classes had extremely full gates.

If you’re looking for results from any of the classes, check here, but in the meantime, be sure to check out the links to the photo gallery and video above.
