Wow, what a wild day! After comfortably winning the first moto, James Stewart looked set to take his second-straight overall win in the AMA Motocross class. But a crash near the end of the second moto left him with a DNF, a 1-35 score for eighth overall, and an appointment for an MRI on Monday to check out an injured left knee.

With Stewart out, it looked like Grant Langston would take the overall. He'd finished fourth in the first moto, and was leading the second moto, with Kevin Windham (6th in the first moto) in second, and Timmy Ferry (2nd in moto one) in third. While Langston went on to take the win, Windham incorrectly thought that he'd taken the checkered flag, and slowed, allowing Ferry to pass him for second. Though Timmy nearly crashed before the finish line trying to stay ahead of Windham, who was trying to correct his mistake, he finished with a 2-2 score, and took the overall win, saying, "This tops anything I've ever done."

The severity of James' injury calls into question both his participation in the rest of the series, and the upcoming Motocross of Nations, leaving Timmy Ferry and Andrew Short as possible leading candidates for the National Championship. There's a 15-point spread between Stewart in first and Short in third, though there's only eight points between Short and Ferry.

In the Motocross Lites class, Ben Townley took yet another overall win, though he split moto wins with his Monster Energy Pro Circuit Kawasaki teammate, Ryan Villopoto. Ryan crashed on the start of the second moto, and turned in an amazing ride, moving from 40th to 20th in one lap, and finally charging to third by the finish. Makita Suzuki's Ryan Dungey took third overall for the day.

Townley now holds a two-point advantage in the chase for the Lites title.
