Then inspect the cable for kinks or pinch marks then use a good lube and lube the cable and make sure it moves smoothly thru the entire length of the cable.

Have you inspected the power valve engagement arms? Check the archives for that info on VITAL MX forum.

The 1st thing I would check is the woodruff key on the left hand crankshaft that keys the flywheel.

I think he is way off unless he is measuring at some other place. Go to YOU-TUBE and see how it is measured and sorry but sag is checked all the time. Check your weight with your riding gear on it can make a difference.

If you can find a FOX air filler (for their old air shocks) that is the best way to not have any air loss.

On older Yamaha's the oil pump (for 2 strokes) was a need style pump and enriches as the throttle cable was pulled so you should get the proper mixture at less throttle as long as you use a 2 stroke oil designed for oil injection.

It used to be most all OEM pistons from Japan was manufactured by ART, and you can purchase those from your local dealer or many mail-order shops..

Usually a simple carb cleaning and rebuild will get you up and running., and is a whole lot cheaper than a new carb.

It should be ok (casting flaw) but you might show your dealer so if you had an issue they could back you up.

Redo it again then wipe it down with something like WD-40, it sounds like you got the clear coat off and it oxidized..

Get a Service Manual 1st. Did you check the piston and ring gap when doing the top end? When checking your compression did you hold the throttle wide open, it makes a big difference. Usually you need at least 150 psi or more to be good.
