Why does a mx track need jumps?

That sucks! Was thinking about buying a bmx bike and going riding there to re-live my childhood. Stopped by there last Friday evening. Not crowded compared to many, many years ago. But a small number of kids and parents were having fun. Too bad that ... more »

The dude is what, 30 yrs old. He's one of the greatest ever. Maybe didn't live up to his or others expectations. But can't take anything away from what he accomplished. Sadly, time passes everyone by. His last real good year was back in 2008,had some ... more »

Used to race MM years ago. Stopped going a few years ago, seemed to be nothing but a money grab now. Although the vet weekend and racing is a blast. Too bad it's a vet sandbag capital of the good ole USA.

Some amateurs are given a credit card from their sponsor or sponsors. Credit card typically has a $ budget. Can be spent on anything from gear, parts, accessories, fuel, oil, etc...from that particular sponsor. Then some factory (Honda, Kaw, Yam, Suz, ... more »

Reply to Aldon vs Johhny-O ? 4/12/2016 10:15 AM

RC parted ways because RC wanted Omara to move to Florida and Omara wanted to stay in California. So Omara referred RC to Aldon. However, RC and Omara remained very good friends then and Omara still talked to RC regularly back than and still does to ... more »

I pointed that out as well. Let's see here; Omara took RC, Dungey and Martin to winning championships in pro mx/sx when none had ever won a championship. Aldon hasn't taken 1 rider to winning a pro championship that hasn't previously been a champion. ... more »

One common theme here, Omara referred RC to Aldon. RC trained under Omara and Aldon. But RC refers riders to Omara!! Not Aldon. I think that says something.

Good points, I thought O'Mara just joined Martin for this years SX, I am proven wrong, so wrong. So Barcia wouldn't listen to O'Mara, then I guess Stewart didn't listen either - so that's on them not O'Mara. I do know if anyone would listen to O'Mara ... more »

BINGO! Kodi is the best thing out there! I've watched live streams on anything sports related on Kodi for the past 3 months! Plus any current and past movie in theatres or archived is on there. Puts Netflix and Hulu to shame!

RC was an amateur multi champion when RC joined with Oshow. RC already had the speed far above his competition but RC was still chubby under Oshow = IMO a wash, Oshow didn't make RC. RC joins Aldon, loses weight appears more physically fit and goes on ... more »

I met my wife in 2007, introduced her to mx and SX racing. I took her to her first ever SX January 2008 and she loved it. We went together to every SoCal race for the first 4 years. But she was becoming bored with the racing and the race format. So she ... more »

Reply to Has Aldon ever lost a championship? 3/30/2016 11:31 AM

Aldon and his riders have created a good program that has improved over the past few years. O'Mara and RC made Aldon. O'Mara connected Aldon with RC. RC was a champion his entire career prior to O'Mara and Aldon. Aldon should thank O'Mara and RC for ... more »

A lot of guys say the tracks are cookie cutter, boring, etc.. Anyone remember 1989 Miami SX? Total sand track! That race was exciting as Bradshaw on a 125 crashed multiple times but I think still came back to win the 125 main. It was awesome.

Bikes are too good, riders are too good which limits the track designs in the footprint of the stadiums. Every rider in the night show jumps all the jumps and cleans all of the sections. Not many screw ups that cost multiple seconds anymore. Blow the ... more »

Reply to o'mara: jeremy martin on the level of ricky carmichael 3/17/2016 9:44 AM

On the training and handling the workload, yes, JMart is similar to Ricky, maybe even better. But on a SX/MX level he's not even currently close to RC at this point in his racing career. As JMart has struggled in SX in the past and has not won a Regional ... more »

Reply to Dirt bike riding - getting more popular? got stats? 3/15/2016 9:38 PM

I'll compare mx to BMX. Back in the early- mid 80's BMX was very popular. BMX bikes back then cost $200-$500. Today BMX is not popular but bikes still cost the same as back then. Kids just aren't into action sports, there are too many other things that ... more »

I've had what they call "skier's thumb" if that's what they say Barcia has. I injured my thumb by crashing riding mx. I tried riding mx for a few weeks and it was very painful. Yes I could still ride but it was very painful and uncomfortable. So I decided ... more »

I've had horrible luck with Toyotas. Owned a 93' Taco with the 3.0L engine, blew head gaskets twice. Once at 56k miles and again at around 90k. I just bought a 02' Taco the day before Thanksgiving with the 3.4L engine and 86k on the odometer and it just ... more »
