yeah, I figured this would get thrown in. "Let's have them juggle flaming batons while jumping through a hoop on fire." That's irrelevant and not what I'm saying at all. I'm actually saying the opposite: simplify the tracks but make them unique. The ... more »
Perhaps. In the meantime, you have the top 10 guys doing the exact same combo without any variation because honestly, there is no other "faster" alternative. It's back to track design - the jumps/rhythms are spaced so that riders have limited options ... more »
dont disagree about 450s being "too much". However, unless we change the bikes/classes (we can't), we should be really drilling down on the track itself in an attempt to 1. slow down the racing and 2. provide challenges that award the exceptional.
thank you. Point proven. Throw in a random obstacle, and these guys attack it in different ways. As it sits today, it's a video game track creation process with identical obstacles over and over and over again. I miss 2 strokes like many of you, but ... more »
a few years ago the MEC had a section of just 9 (or so) random jumps. The distance between them was pretty tight (abnormal) and it absolutely gave the riders fits. I remember Barcia casing it lap after lap. It took precision and GUTS to take the "fast ... more »
here: 1. Bikes are too fast. 2. Tracks suck. :-)
Watching RaceDay Live. I'm sure that this has been said a million times over, but the big beef I see with modern SX racing is 2 things: 1. It absolutely blows to watch the riders figure out the fastest line, and then have them ALL capable of doing it! ... more »

another dumb story: At Howerton's track south of SA that hosted a national one year there was a set of whoops, with a turn, followed by more whoops. This particular section had made me CRAZY as a kid cause I was slow as molasses and I could never figure ... more »
ya know, I never post but this topic was interesting. I went to Ponca in about '83 and watched Emig and Button battle on 80s. I had just raced (got 10th) and remember my jaw agape as it was the first time I had ever seen full factory riders going full ... more »
no, this can't fall off the main page. What a SUPER cool article. I so appreciate the time that it must have taken to put this together. Life is short, people. LIVE IT.

pffffffft. When we DO get an interview with personality (cough - SEELY - cough) the censors on this site nuke it.
I go offline for the day once the races start. Go to www.offroadvideos.org starting later in the evening and the owner posts HD Youtube videos of each moto without spoilers. Stream to your TV. Done. And it's free. Commercial free as well. (It appeared to be a rip ... more »

ya know, he's a guy that we should all hope that our sons emulate. No glamour. No gold plated teeth (like the ballers). No trouble, no fights. Just respect from everyone that bumped into him. And now he walks away as a champ. It's like a fairytale. Kudos ... more »
i remember this video. I also remember that a few months later it was posted up that he died while riding. RIP.
meh - guess I'll just wake up the next day and watch on offroadvideos.org. This is stupid.
I'm sure this has been discussed, but it's lost in other threads. I have Roku. I have MavTV app, which apparently DOES NOT include Motocross. So you get the LucasRacing app - which is $7/mo. But then it moves to NBC Sports, right? Which is free? Or do ... more »

jeez, 4 strokes sound absolutely AWFUL.
nobody cares about my opinion (and I don't blame them), but: Countless top-tier athletes have retired....only to return. Jordan. Favre. McGrath. Etc. They burn out and then they miss the fire and competition and they return after their bodies heal and ... more »
agreed. So when Grant is getting passed and historically would have ridden high up the berm so that Dungey can pass, he'll hold his line and stay on the gas to take him out. When confronted, Grant will just say "Hey, I don't have to allow him by without ... more »
