Yep. I wouldn’t trust the average dealer booger eater...oops, I mean tech...to tighten an axle nut, let alone prep the bike. I’ve found more loose/mid-installed shit than you can shake a stick at. And one empty gearbox...

I’m very sorry you’re having to go through this. We lost my sister at 27 to a collision. In her case, it was as close to “accidental “ as it gets. I cannot imagine going through it knowing that it was a senseless, purposeful act and someone was directly ... more »

‘18 KX450. I’m 230 (trying to get better but 210 is skinny for my build). I also prefer to short shift vs rev, making a 450 better suited to me. I’ve tried several 250’s and absolutely hated every one. I do have a 250 smoker as well, but I only ride ... more »

Gotcha. I don’t disagree, was thinking more of the 95% of the public who think that car dealers are the experts when it comes to maintenance on their newer vehicles (a category I am certainly not in...).

Curious why it would hurt value on a car or street bike, if the new engine was installed at a dealership?

Saying “pull that shit again and I’ll kick your ass” makes a statement. Saying “I’ll kill you” makes you sound like a whiny, overly dramatic little baby. Either way, it would’ve been priceless if Alessi would’ve gotten up and decked Phil after he talked ... more »

Definitely from a KX250. I had a 98, 99, 00, and 01. I don’t recall it having the downward bend before the stinger where the silencer connects. That said, it’s been a long time since I’ve looked at one, and that era DID have that gunmetal (vs flat black) ... more »

The best way to avoid it is people not being stupid enough to try stuff like that when they’re nowhere near capable. There’s only one person to blame for that crash, and he was riding that CRF.

Added reply in a thread Bike sitting for years 7/11/2019 7:19 AM

Starting an engine every now and then (unless you ride it enough to get the oil hot) is actually worse for the engine. All it does is add moisture to the crankcase without getting hot enough to burn it off.

Added reply in a thread 2016 Honda crf250r frame dent 7/8/2019 7:33 AM

You might start shopping for a frame on eBay, etc...plenty of folks parts these out due to blown motors, etc. that way you’d have one on hand. If you do go that route, keep the current frame so when you go to sell, someone doesn’t think it’s shady...you ... more »

Added reply in a thread 2016 Honda crf250r frame dent 7/8/2019 7:15 AM

Possibly ok to ride (I wouldn’t, but I’m super picky about my bikes). That said, the first time you need to pull the motor, I’ll bet the mount doesn’t line up...and if that’s the case, it means there’s stress on that area that shouldn’t be.
