Usually when doing fork tubes you will plug the ends so the inside walls dont go through the process. The only surfaces that will anodize are those exposed to the current and acid bath. an anodized finish relies on the uncoated surface. If it is polished ... more »

The color isnt difficult to get at all. Getting the color to be consistent across the rim is the difficult part. Bronze 1, or Brown GL, super hard to get consistent coloring on larger parts. No idea why, some colors just act that way. Browns and bronzes ... more »

Not 100% certain who makes Fly helmets now, but they have been Bell products for years. Might still be, might not. But, i know for a long time, all Fly helmets were made by Bell.

It shouldnt. Its got a nickel acetate sealer after the color bath. So the acid has been neutralized. Dont know if it has a clear coat over that or not, but the sealer almost always prevents it from bleeding anymore

Definitely an anodizing issue. Looks like from etching to coloring, the rinse bath was contaminated and the rim was dipped in the gold dye bath with some sulfuric acid residue still in the ceramic pores, causing the miscoloring

Im guessing its a grade of tool steel alloy. Tool steel alloys are a tad heavier, but, harden extremely well and have minimal wear.
