Added reply in a thread Building the ultimate cr125 engine 6/16/2022 9:49 AM

Nobody really knows how a two stroke works (the multi physics from air box to exhaust tip). Even the most sophisticated finite element multi-physics simulation programs can't even figure it out, otherwise, everyone would be making similar numbers. The ... more »

Started new thread SoCal "Pass" ticket for Milestone/Perris/Starwest question 6/12/2022 2:02 PM

Many of us SoCal riders have purchased the season "pass" option every year to ride free for the tracks mentioned in the subject line. Milestone's been long gone, Perris is under new management and isn't honoring the pass, and Start West is now gone. ... more »

Added reply in a thread Stark Varg Reviews 6/11/2022 5:35 PM

Not saying the bike was not great (I owned two at one time), it just wasn't competitive with the gas bikes at higher/certain levels/types of racing. The Stark will be a bit better but will still suffer the same limitations. If you are a vet MX rider/racer ... more »

Just remember that every "initial impression" ride of the first Altas were glowing with enthusiasm too. And we know how that ultimately turned out . . . . .

Started new thread Waterjet for sale, $15,000 6/7/2022 7:16 PM

This is for one 15 hp 60,000 PSI waterjet pump in excellent condition with high pressure line and cutting head with 0.76 nozzle (I'm not sure of the ruby size but can investigate). Comes with 40HP rotary phase converter so all you need is 2 phase 220v

Added reply in a thread Stark VARG Test, T-Minus Three Months 6/6/2022 9:45 PM

My prediction based on a few engineering degrees, 30 years of hi-tech manufacturing knowledge, and lots of experience building electric moto bikes; 80% of the buyers will be disappointed (if they even receive a bike) and Stark will fold up shop before ... more »

Added reply in a thread Do you change your air filter if it's barely dirty 6/4/2022 7:01 PM

It depends on how much time has passed between cleanings. The filter oil, even some good one, tend to slowly migrate to the bottom of the filter leaving the upper area possibly oil starved.

Added reply in a thread The KTM E 50 10/29/2021 7:02 AM

I appreciate the offer. I'd love to get my hands on one (a KTM/GASGAS/Husky SX E5) for a few weeks to analyze their setup, but I know that's asking a lot. If anyone in SoCal is interested in having me take a look just email me at maxvonauto@aol.com. ... more »

I think the electric moto generation will thank the day they don't need hearing aids at the ripe old age of 50!

Added reply in a thread The KTM E 50 10/28/2021 2:01 PM

Well, I haven't given it that much thought until now, there's so little information on them. I don't even know what the stock pack Kw/hr rating is, probably less than 1kw/hr using a nominal 36v (I'm not even sure of the voltage, lol). Looking at pictures

Added reply in a thread The KTM E 50 10/27/2021 10:17 PM

I build battery packs for all my projects. I was thinking about building packs for the new E 50s but just haven't seen the demand. I'd need to buy a bike and reverse engineer everything, so I'd need to see at least those costs covered in potential sales. ... more »

Ultimately, if we're depending on the kids of today to grow the sport I think our days are numbered. Probably 90% of the kids today are "moto kids" of parents that rode/raced themselves. If they don't get burnt out they might become the moto mom/dad ... more »

Maybe that was true at one time, it certainly was for me growing up in the seventies. Those days you (as a teenager) didn't even consider a "motorsport" until you could afford to buy it or at least help pay for it. All the kids that raced had summer ... more »

Once the technology advances a bit you won't need to be told to buy one, you'll want to buy one, at least if you want to be competitive anyway. It wasn't that much different during the switch to four strokes when all your buddies you used to beat at ... more »

For 65 and under sized bikes electric works as the lower power levels places less demand on the battery allowing reasonably sized/weight battery packs using current Li-Ion technology. However, the same technology doesn't scale up as successfully. I think
