Yes-same size front and rear. It makes some small wrinkles but that's no problem at all. There is a whole thread with more details and pictures on my bike on thumpertalk here: http://www.thumpertalk.com/topic/993917-my-new-cr-125-afs-aluminium-framed-mugen-powered/

Correct-it's the design that changed. The CR 250 was always 1 year ahead so in '90 the 125 still had the "old" design with the smaller volume airbox while the 250 had already the bigger, grey plastic airbox. That VRP airbox was already much bigger 1

I'm using those Schwalbe Fatbike tubes all year long in all my wheelsets. I guess it depends on the terrain you ride in but over here they hold up really well. I don't compromise in tire pressure either. I'm running as low pressures as i did before.. Those tubes weigh just 380g/pc. so that's easily 2 lbs less than your typical heavy-duty MX innertube.

I know-but actually riding these engines speaks volumes. And if you look at Honda RS 125 GP pistons you also see they are flat-top. Also the HRC kit pistons. Those engines were all about top-speed as well...

Just try a Mugen and then tell me flat top pistons are "bad" for top-end

If i remember correct it's already in '89 that they had flat top pistons. The last of the ATAC engines. I'm about to get a '89 Mugen kit so i'll let you

Yes that's correct. These Mugens had flat top pistons. Easily recognizeable by looking at the heads. The shape of round top piston heads is different. On round top heads the squish has already an angle and the overall design is "rounder" while on flat-top

Yes-that's most probably a VRP Varlo Verona did those in 1990 for the CR250 which already had the larger plastic airbox. It fits 1990-1992. I had it in 1990 on my VRP already where you usually still had the smaller airbox that was covered by the numberplates.

No idea what these are...they seem shorter in overall height. I wouldn't use such pistons. There is a reason why Mugen pistons don't come with the window. There is no need for any experiments. Just follow my suggestions and you'll be rewarded with a ... more »

Congrats - cool find! I suggest you keep those Mugen pistons and use other pistons instead! Those pistons are "unobtainium". I personally use Vertex 22190 pistons which also come without the window on the intake side just as the Mugen pistons. I just

Mugens have placed the whole exhaust port and HPP valve setup 1,5mm higher in the cast. Not so the side ports so it's not easy to replicate this porting on a stock cylinder. The raise of the exhaust is quite radical as is the gain in power. If you ride ... more »

Cool project - i like that

I did the exact same thing but since i already had a potent '98 around i wanted to go full out and also opted for a modern CRF chassis...thus building a AF which now is a real 4-stroke beater! I still have a '98 CR ... more »

I tried many, many different pipes with my Mugen engines and the DEP was by far the weakest !! Absolute garbage. Try a italian Messico or Tomasin R&D and you'll get serious ponies ! I also tried a Pro Circuit but didn't like it at all. It makes just
