Added reply in a thread Safe bolts I can replace with aluminum? 12/3/2015 4:30 AM

The general rule is ally bolts for low stress areas and steel or titanium for high stress areas. I personally would only use steel or ti for the triple clamp bolts and handlebar mounts. I suppose for the tiny weight penalty from steel or ti, then it's ... more »

Are ti fork springs possible? It's something I looked into a while ago out of curiosity and found very little info. The info I did find seemed to suggest ti fork springs aren't really a doable option. Would love to be proved wrong though!

From the info that seems to be available, the standard DID Dirt Star rims are the lightest. They are available in silver. I'm more of a silver fan as it doesn't show the wear black rims do. Fat bike tubes to replace the mx tubes. Save lots of weight ... more »

Haha. To be fair though, some of his best weight savings were the least expensive! i.e tubes from a fat bike and light weight seat foam (which you could easily make yourself for cheaper than buying a ready made one).

I believe Nino seems to have done the best thread so far regarding weight loss. The good thing is he makes a note of everything. It makes for a fantastic thread if you're a weight weenie.

MotionPro Lite rim lock as well to reduce weight? I'm surprised people don't make their own light weight seats. Would imagine it'd be a good bit cheaper.
