I'm beginning to think I'm the only one who still loves the 03+ shape and still thinks it's a clean, fresh design. Really not a fan of the 16 shape kxf plastics, especially the areas aroud the rad shroud and fuel tank and rad shroud leading into the ... more »

It's no good asking me if I've had a whiskey throttle moment....I can't remember the last time I rode as it was back in 2010! haha. I've had moments where I've pulled the clutch in because the rest of my body momentarily froze enough not to use either ... more »

You must be a top 3 pro rider who never makes mistakes, huh?! Ever thought it may boil down to common sense? Shit happens, so why not have a clutch if it has the potential to make things slighty safer in a 'what if' situation.

But how do you control accidentally grabbing a hanful of throttle with no clutch lever?

A clutch lever would be handy/helpful (safe).

Added reply in a thread What does a factory bike cost? 4/10/2018 11:50 AM

A few years ago (no more than 10) there was an article in one of the magazines that gave a cost of all the top riders 450 bikes. Just about all were $80-100k each. One may have even hit $120k. And that was the figure given by the mechanics.

Hopefully it'll be an absolute mud bath. While I feel sorry for the bikes and the mechanics, it makes things WAY more interesting to watch!

Interesting! Thanks for the wheel picture. I wonder what the weight is like compared to other brands of rear wheel.

That era of TM looks awesome. I kick myself for not getting a 2003 tm250 years ago. Good luck with the sale!

Very cool build. Can't wait to see the finished product. I've been somewhat obsessed by TM since seeing a 2003 one years ago. Would still happily buy a TM even though I don't ride any more. Haha. One thing you could try and find - a hub that doesn't ... more »

TM were beaten to it by a few years. If you check out one of nino's VRP honda 125's, you will see a ram air system. Regardless of who did it first, I still think it's cool. It would be nice to know how much of a difference it makes.

early - thanks for the diagrams. I would have figured a clutch lever would be easier to grab than trying to aim for a little on/off button or a small key, especially when you've dumped the bike and all you can think of is to get going on route for the ... more »

Riding the Alta and you fall over throttle side down and it holds the throttle WFO. Without a clutch how do you kill the drive quickly to make it easy/safe to pick up? (Clutched bike you would just pull in the lever, pick the bike up and go)

Stomp grip material. Maybe ok for road bikes, but useless for mx.

Added reply in a thread moto fads that have gone away 3/19/2018 10:43 AM

I still have my neck donut! I've not ridden mx since 2010, but if/when I start, I will wear it again. I have no medical basis, but I believe they are just as good (if not better) than neck braces. Queue the potential arguments....lol
