Well, yes, stuff will be made in one of those rubbish countries. But the less I can buy from them the better. If I can support a better/decent country then I will.

Ah crap. Don't say that! haha.

That tire wasn't on my list and certainly isn't now! lol My ideal choice is between Bridgestone X20 or the Michelin Starcross 5 soft.

Thanks for the info, folks! I may have to buy new tires if I decide to ride again and was hoping to get some tires that were NOT made in China.

I read something on here the other day that said Maxxis tires are made in China. Does anyone happen to know where the other brands are made?

Never gave much thought to the brake fluid, actually! I'm not a fan of starting my bike at home, simply because you don't know who's around. Unfortunately there are some undesirables/inbred/scum around.

I suppose the sensible thing to do would be go over as much as possible. Yeah, I forgot to write carb clean on the list! It's the hidden things like the engine seals that will be playing on my mind.

I'm possibly thinking of riding again after an 8 year break. The bike has been in an unheated garage - so which parts in particular will need replacing (aside from the obvious, air filter, gearbox oil, radiator fluid). I assume the tyres and tubes won't ... more »

I believe it was in 2002, Gordon Crockard was on KTM and it said in an article the bike made 56bhp and if needed, more power was available. I'm a Kawi man through and through, but always had a soft spot for those 2003 factory KTM's. Shame there's not ... more »

Robot Bike are 3d printing titanium frame lugs for their mountain bikes. There is also some other company 3d printing dropouts for their bikes. I believe both use the Renishaw machines. Not sure how I'd feel just yet about 3d printed metal mx parts, ... more »

There was a person on Vital a couple of years ago who made his own mx bike and posted a topic about it. I think he came from Europe. I just wish I could remember the name of the bike, but it looked like a good effort!

Just out of curiousity nytsmaC, how do you know that the Marchesini wheels are the lightest on the market? Are you saying the same thing regarding the Talon sprockets and Sunstar MXR1 chain?

Why not just answer the question? If you can't why not keep quiet? Why do you have to be cynical about the thread - simply because it is a new user and doesn't have half a million posts like some? The amount of people who ruin threads is just stupid. ... more »

I would have thought that would be the weight of engine (with no oil) as removed straight from the frame. I'm sure I read ages ago on thumpertalk of a weight around 46lb for a 2st engine, but can't remember what cc it was.

As taken from the Full Tilt TM thread in the Bike Builds section - a tm144 engine is "41 pounds with the stator and flywheel."
