This is the first ktm we had that acted like this, I do have a few things to try and check so we'll see what happens. I know the 18 fe 450 is as smooth as butter even when shifting wide open, probably the best to date

No problem I contacted Hinson and they told me to try the stock setup and see if we can speed shift because it seems before we had that we could. So I'm going to try that first and check the push rod, bleed the system and check the fibers which should ... more »

When racing mx we have always shifted all of our bikes wfo and those were 08 ktm 65, 08 kx 85, 13 ktm 125 and 14 ktm 250sx with never an issue with the tranny.

I just got off of the phone with ktm and of course they said only fix was buy new pump but I don't wanna go that route when all I need is a hose. So if I eliminate the inline filter in the tank and run a straight hose do I need to put an inline filter ... more »

Thank you for that. It seems like the filter is causing the issue of the kink

Do you make a flexible hose that will fix this?

Added reply in a thread 16 ktm 250f kinked gas line fix?? 5/1/2018 1:16 PM

Do you have any pics? How long of a hose did you use? The hose I used was 2.5in long and still had kinked, so I either need it to be shorter yet or an actual flexible line

Added reply in a thread 16 ktm 250f kinked gas line fix?? 5/1/2018 1:11 PM

Yup I pulled the fuel pump out and it will not work, it still had a small kink in it, I definitely need a flexible line meant to be submerged

Yeah it makes sense it's just the first bike we've had that didn't like to speed shift, I guess he may just have to deal with it this yr until he's full time on the 450

Added reply in a thread Can this be welded? 4/29/2018 4:25 PM

Yup definitely fixable and if your sending it out might as well have the dents fixed but otherwise they aren't bad dents. Performance wise the dents would have to be way worse than that and are usually more critical the closer to the flange

Added reply in a thread 2016 250sxf speed shifting 4/29/2018 4:20 PM

Huh really? I know our ktm 65, kx85, ktm 125 & 250 would do it and I thought our 250f used too but don't remember exactly. My son said his 18 FE 450 will shift wide open and is very smooth but it also has the new transmission made by Pinkl I think ... more »

Anyone have any issues when trying to speed shift? When my son is racing he said most of the time he can't shift while wide open and either has to grab some clutch or let off some to get it to shift. We're losing time having to let off so trying to figure ... more »

I don't think it matters where the shift drum is but I think I usually try to start it at neutral also, have u installed the shifter shaft and shifter also when trying it?

Added reply in a thread KTM Transmission Rebuild 4/29/2018 4:53 AM

No I don't have a pic. Have u tried leaving one case half off and try going through the gears watching it to see if anything is binding? Sometimes lubing the shafts will help
