4 Hours of Daylight

Alaska,

I have been in this state since 1997. When I came here I was in total awe. I thought I would surely die here. But, the winters are really long up here. December 21 is winter solstice. Translation 4 hrs of daylight, if there are no clouds, that is down in Anchorage. On the slope where I work, maybe 1 hr. Between that and the bitter cold in the winter, I think I have had enough. I am 42 yrs old, I now own a 2 dirtbikes, a ps3 and a wii. The 2 game consoles are getting more exercise than me, its really pissing me off walking by my crf450 sitting in the garage everyday. The wife gave me a wii fit. I think whoever came up with that game should be shot. The first thing it did when I plugged it in was tell me I am fat and 58. So, a riding buddy of mine asked me to come down to Kenai, ak to ride sleds with him and his AD Boivin Explorer bike. I have never had a good sled experience but the bike got my attention. Reluctantly, I went down to his house. The first night we got drunk and installed the kit on his 426. I got excited. When we were done, he took it for a spin. I got even more excited. The next day I geared up, got on the bike and went down the drive way. The instant I got going, I realized I might die! I could not keep the front end under me. I thought for sure it was going to slide out at any second. I went down into a gravel pit, crashed it a few times, went back to the house and asked for a sled. But that is another story. So, Did I mention winter in Alaska SUCKS! 4 hrs of daylight, what the hell was I thinking.
