Follow the trail of money to an F1 race. There is more money dumped into 1 F1 race than a whole season of soccer. Just because you don't follow it does not mean it doesn't exist. Rather ignorant to argue about something you have no knowledge of, especially ... more »

you couldn't afford it and they wouldn't let you if you had the money and the same goes for the "average privateer" and the "weekend warrior" that you referenced. Did you also hear the part where Matthes said that it was not something they advertised ... more »

Does any of you guys factor who the sponsors might want. They are footing the majority of the bill these days, it's very easy for Makita to say, heres $5 mil for the team but ONLY if you sign XXXXX to a contract. Those with the money hold the cards now, ... more »

Negative odds meaning he was not even money or better. 7:5 is every $5 you bet, you get back $7, that $2 profit. -110 is also negative odds, you are correct, so is get less than even money . Regardless, Reed would not have had those good odds with everyone ... more »

I'm sure he had a bonus for 2nd or 3rd, just not close to the $1.5mil. He would have lost his own $300K, yes. Suzuki wins, they got out of paying him $1.5mil, they paid 300K to get the 1.5 in the end.

Added reply in a thread Reed's Championship bonus to himself 9/3/2009 3:07 PM

Reed was 7:5 at the US Open last year (negative odds), this policy was 5:1. Why you think that is? the first would be because of the competitors ie: Stewart, RV, Alessi. The 2nd would be because it's a 12 race series, not a 2 day event. If he bets after ... more »

Give it up kid, you can't win. This is classic old vs. new. All you will get is "back in my racing days, they didn't have tractors to build tracks, we used our helmets as shovels" or "we didn't have banners to line the track, we used barb wire and metal ... more »

Some clarification for some of the confused on here. His C-ship bonus was 1.5 Mil, not 300K. Suzuki doesn't acutally front that money, they "bet" on it. It cost Suzuki 300K to make that bet with a 5:1 return. The gear companies do the same thing along ... more »

No offense, but Reed is not even in the same zip code with Tiger when it comes to $$$. For Tiger, $300K is no biggie, but Reed had a hard enough giving bonus money to mechanics over the years, $300K is a big deal and it was balsy for sure.

Added reply in a thread Reed's Championship bonus to himself 9/2/2009 3:23 PM

unfortunately, many people have thought about. The US housing market fell victim to it along with many banks. In a nutshell, there were "bets" on people's ability to repay loans, or inability, those "bets" were packaged up and bundled into a portfolio ... more »

If it was confirmed that James was not riding, there is no way he is getting 5:1. You think Lloyds didn't research this before taking the action. Hit the MGM sports book in Oct and track the line, I don't think Chad gets 5:1 at all or ever has been for ... more »

You're not impressed? Whats $3000 compared to what you make currently right? Lets use your job for instance, whatever that is. Are willing to put up one months pay(3G), getting 5 to 1 odds that you will outperform your co-workers? My guess is no, but ... more »

Someting to put under your screen name Trip, instead of that Cabo bottle. "Recognized by the Alessi's but not known by name." And to think, you type this stuff while defending people who have no idea who the hell you are. Brilliant.

its all about dollars. These promoters say they're doing things for the love/passion of moto, but if there is no money behind door #1, they are looking behind #2 thats for sure. Core moto will dwindle while pockets expand for certain groups/people.
