The vast majority of 39mm PWK's were non air stryker (AS) carbs. Late model RM 250's came with 39mm AS carbs that were labeled as 38's of the most part. If you are able to post a pic of the back (air box) side of the carb i can tell you if it's an Air ... more »

I have a ton of experience with these bikes, using both the Mikuni and the PWK. The only place that I thought the Mikuni worked better than the PWK, was for for pure outdoors style mx.The reason being, every 38mm Mikuni TMX-x carb that I have put a dial ... more »

It provides more fuel down low. I have never had to change a starter jet All I ever do with Mikuni carbs is try to make them work more like a Keihin.

Does the bike bog when you open the throttle quickly on the stand, or only when it's under a load ?

Have the head cut. Leave the port timing as it comes from the factory. I thought the 43-73 was the oem spec for the 17' 300, but either way it is an optional needle for the 300's

The first thing to do with that bike is to correct head squish. I would have it set for .98mm to 1.0mm. the rest is fairly straight forward. Needle: 43-74 in the 3rd clip pilot: 32.5 Needle jet: S-4 main: 490 Slide: 5.0 airscrew: 1.5 turns out This should ... more »

What year bike ? I think the 17' 150 came with a different needle jet than the 18'-19's with a Mikuni carb.

Added reply in a thread PWK38 with powerjet.....how do i remove the powerjet? 1/4/2019 4:11 PM

You don't put the solder, or quick steal, in carb itself. You only need a very small amount to fill the hole in the power jet itself. Remove the jet, fill the hole in the jet, let dry, reinstall the filled jet back into the carb. This is only for people ... more »

You had the idle screw so far in that were lifting the needle up off the straight section and trying to idle the bike on the 1st taper of the needle. This is very common with KTM guy's using NOZx or N1Ex needles. They have a very short straight section. ... more »

The Jet block gasket for a short body PWK can be purchased still, but not in the US, that I know of. I would for sure be worth changing in you case. https://www.ebay.com/itm/Jet-block-o-ring-2-short-body-Keihin-PWK-36-38-carburetor-mid-body-gasket-NEW/202065024629#rwid ... more »
