The front notch looks better. I can’t tell if you cut the the back side at all. I never saw any benefit to drilling the float bowl plug. Here’s a stock #4 slide that recently cut into a #5.5.

I didn't notice in your previous posts if you had also replaced the jet block gasket. If not please do so. Some Mikunis came through with bad jet block gaskets from the factory, which will cause the bike to run rich all the time. If you're not going ... more »

All you did there was make the pilot jet circuit more efficient, which in turn should make the bike idle better. It is critical that those bike use a minimum of an S-4 needle jet along with a leaner 5.0 slide. The jetting for that bike in upstate NY ... more »

From what you posted, it would seem like he's using the same 2 needles (Red & Blue) from 125cc to 500cc. If that's the case, then I would for sure start off with the CCK needle for the 125.

Added reply in a thread Who's put a PWK on a CR125? 5/30/2019 9:28 PM

Which Blue needle ? I believe he makes a Blue and Red needles for 250/300's, for PWK's, which are all the same tapers with the exception of the starting diameter, I think he also makes Red and blue needles for small bore 125/150's with PWK's. He also ... more »

For that particular bike, with a 38mm PWK and #7 slide, I would suggest you start off with a single taper CCK needle in the #3 clip position with a 50 or 52 pilot and a 185 main jet. This will be a safe starting point for you.

If you wanted to try a Dxx single taper needle, I would suggest a DDK. the pilot and main will be close to what you have with the CEJ needle. For about $5 more you can try the Suzuki NECH needle and jetting that I listed above. I think you will like ... more »

I do like them better than the single taper needles, but it debatable.

A Suzuki NECH needle in the #3 clip, along with a 45 pilot, and a 168 main, set the air screw to 1.5 turns out. This should be a nice safe starting point for you. If you want to use the single taper needle, like what you have in the carb now, I recommend ... more »

I find it hard to believe that the PC pipe alone changed the efficiency of the engine that much to warrant those kinds of jetting changes. Have you used the FMF pipe at all since switching to the PC pipe, just to see if it really is the pipe alone that ... more »

No, The OEM slide on all of KTM's 2 strokes is a #4. IMO,The 125/150's seem to run best with a #5 slide. While the 250/300's work best with a #5.5 to #6.0 slide.

This is much more inline with what I wound up with on the 18' 150 I did, which was, S-4 42-74 in #2, to start out with 30 490 A/S@ 1.5 Notched #5 slide 32/1 The #5 slide is a must do to really make this setup work. It doesn't necessarlly have to be notched ... more »

I don't remember if 01' RM250's came with the N3WK needle, and the richer #6 slide. Listing your current jetting would be helpful, pilot, needle, main, slide #, and power jet.

Added reply in a thread Help w/ 03 cr250 air striker jetting 4/27/2019 2:33 PM

Ok, Then I would recommend that you use a Yamaha N3EJ needle in the #3 clip position, and start out with a 48 pilot jet, but it may need to be leaned out to a 45 in the warmer weather. Along with a 178 main, but again a 175 main may need to be used in ... more »

The guys above have you right about where you are going to wind up with an A715/289 needle, in your 03' cr250, #3 clip position, 42 pilot and 175 main. What you are going to run into, is that the 715/289 needle isn't a very clean running needle as compared ... more »

I would also replace the jet block gasket in the carb. That will also cause the bike to run rich, very rich.

IMO, the stock duel taper series needles that Yamaha uses in the 250 make the 295 engines hard to ride. If it were my bike, I would use a Suzuki NECJ #3 or NEDJ #2 needle, with a 40 pilot, and 168 or 165 main jet, along with a 40 power/leak jet. This ... more »

From what you are describing, it sounds like a run on idle which is caused by a lean condition. If your bike is good mechanical condition a 48 pilot jet will not run lean with that series needle. The easier thing to do would be to richer the clip position ... more »
