The slide pictured on JD's website is the correct slide for a Mikuni TMX-x carb( the slide you need) . A Mikuni TMX-x slide will only work in a Mikuni TMX-x carb. JD's slides will only work in non TPS Mikuni's, which with your KTM, you don't have to ... more »

I dykem blue the back side of the slide where I will be cutting, so that I can see the etched line. I then etch the amount I need to take off around the full arch, 1mm to go from an OEM 4.0 to a 5.0, or 1.5mm to go from 4.0 to a 5.5 etc , into the slide ... more »

I have them setup with a 490 main. Make sure you use Mikuni brand mains only. The quality of the aftermarket mains above 490 varies wildly. I have seen 520 aftermarket mains that ran leaner than 490’s. Just be advised.

Yes, if you cut and notch your oem slide you will only need the jet block gasket kit from JD. That setup has been used from 60f to 90f with slight air screw adjustments only. Sea level to 2000’

The best 125/150 jetting setup that I have come up with is: 42-74 needle start out in the #2 clip position https://www.motosport.com/oem-parts/part-number/284-14116-h4-00?mmysource=yamaha;yz125;2019&partgroup=carburetor S-4 needle jet #5-slide, it's ... more »

I haven't seen that many problems with flaking chrome, but i don't usually use optional slides. I almost always cut the OEM slide to what I feel it needs to be, or slightly richer. I can alway remove material. What I have seen a bunch of times, is cracked ... more »

I agree, They are not bad carbs, KTM is simply being cheap by not specing the carbs correctly from Mikuni. They(KTM) must have gotten a helluva deal on 38mm TMX-x carbs with a #4 slide from Mikuni. That #4 slide is the most expensive parts to upgrade ... more »

From what I'm looking at, I would say you are mostly correct. That 5.75 slide is lean for a 125, and when combined with the 25 pilot it will fell very lean. Especially with an un-notched slide. Yes, the larger the front side notch the richer it will ... more »

The jetting, that I recommended for you is a fairly common setup for a 250 KX engine. I know that setup has been run successfully many times. The only thing I would have recommended, is if you were riding in sand a lot, is to use a 162/165 main jet. ... more »

Those jetting specs shouldn't be overly lean for that bike, (01' kx250),unless you are riding in cold weather,<55f. Are you sure the was no off idle hesitation and or bogging from 1/2 to full throttle, which would indicate a lean condition ? You can ... more »

I just worked on an 18' TC 125 on Friday. I set it up her OEM Mikuni carb, with almost the exact same specs I gave you. The inly thing I did different I did, was use a 27.5 pilot, with the air screw at 1.25 out. The bike runs great, with no off idle ... more »

By fixing the jetting, which is fairly easy to do, installing the green power valve spring, and turning the power valve adjuster in, you can drastically change the power. Depending on how far you turn the power valve adjuster in, you can make it so your ... more »

I would start off with a Yamaha N3CG needle in the #3 clip position, a 50 or 48 pilot jet, weather and or elevation dependent with a 185/182 main jet with the air screw at 1.5 turns out. The triple taper NOZG setup above will work as well, but I don't ... more »

Have you tried moving the clip down to the 2nd or 3rd clip position? Probably going to need a bigger pilot than a 30 as well with the non notched slide. The main seems fine.
