Added reply in a thread Headphones while riding? 9/30/2019 10:26 AM

I have been riding with a set of high quality earbuds and a SanDisk ClipZip for about ten years... It helps me focus when I practice. I've never raced with it, I have the racing to keep my mind on things. Practice days I'll go ride for 30 or 40 minutes ... more »

A buddy was over at my shop today and brought down a spare tank he had for his 1989 KX250. I'll do modern forks, brakes, revalve the shock and install this tank before I'm done with my 1990

What more do you need to look at than a couple of Ward's bikes (1990 and 1989 below).? Check out that external elastomer bottoming system on the 1989 factory fork. I found these photos somewhere on the internet, don't remember...

Oh, there's about zero chance I'd be interested in some Nike MX boots, that was just my fun way to say I think it's unlikely that we'll see Seven boots any time soon. You have a good point about the size of the sport though.

I'm still waiting on those Nike boots...

Yeah, for what it was, the 1990 was ground breaking as Steve said. Here's the only photo I have on my 1990 (with swapped blue forks) from back in the day. That was my last good green bike until I bought a 1990 KX500 a few weeks back.

Added reply in a thread wd40 stator question 9/25/2019 5:37 PM

WD-40 isn't conductive, it's more likely that there was some water partially shorting one or more of the coils, or the wiring harness. Don't use emery or other abrasives on the wire, but it doesn't hurt to hit the bare ends of the stack of steel core ... more »

Sometimes the dealers have to order in a specific model or trim, un-crate it, set it up with some accessories, etc.

Mark, I'm going to send you a text about this. Maybe we'll ship some parts back and forth...

There are companies like BRC who do make kits. http://brcracing.ca/

I just bought a KX last month. I have wanted one for almost 20 years, but never pulled the trigger until now. The parts lack of good quality parts might become an issue even without some kind of post apocalyptic mad-max scnario, but I'm not too worried ... more »

Yeah, I was at the Dream Race. This year I rode the 250 Master and won the Freedom class. Man, some of those supermini kids are fast and beating them all is awesome! Fifth in the 125 class is a real accomplishment. I missed Top Gun this year as my wrist ... more »

The rough finish and epoxy aren't bad. I question anyone's skill (or caring about their work) who digs in that bad on the inside corners. I'm a machinist, I own/operate a small CNC shop, so I have an eye for detail. I also think there are people who ... more »

I agree 100%. Yamaha's OEM gaskets are superior to anything I've used from aftermarket vendors.

Based on the fork lugs, those look like 2006 model forks from a 125, 250F, 250, or 450F. Hope that helps.

Right on the money. With modern CNC machining and manufacturing tolerances there are plenty of good brands and parts to choose from. I have been running a lot of Wiseco pistons in my Yamahas, but the only brand I wouldn't run is Namura. Most people don't ... more »

#434 called out the clamping mechanism, and I agree that's the best design out there. I also like the tapered stem-seat that allows changing the offset by 2mm; brilliant, you get two clamp offsets in one. The trouble with the XTrig clamp is the over-engineered ... more »
