That's why I haven't and won't try racing with the music. It's fine during practice if you are visually aware of who's near you on the track.

I think I'll install a lighting coil and a big amp with some loud speakers. Picture me sitting on on the gate with a 125 surrounded by 450s while "Chariots of Fire" is blasting on my speakers at 200 db.

I plan to try some earplugs at the races this weekend... Never worn any in a race before, only practice.

I find the same thing with the engine sound. When I can't hear the bike at all, I just wring it out and use the clutch instead of the throttle. My lap times on Sunday were 2 seconds faster on a 2 minute lap with a set of earbuds that seal in my ear playing ... more »

Yeah! Hey, you guys know Ronnie Mac is actually J-Law right?

Added reply in a thread Lost in the Pulp shuffle: RV calling the accusers out 7/24/2013 10:03 AM

I think DV12 made a great point about needing to have the raw speed before doping would do you any good. Also, consider that RV won SX races in 2009 and also the Glen Helen national, and he wasn't in nearly the shape he's been in since he got with Aldon ... more »

Added reply in a thread Who's got a moto van? 7/8/2013 12:24 PM

Picked up a Chevy Express Cargo 3500 this year. AC, 4L80E, Dana axle (4.11 gears), 6.0L. This is my first van and I love it. The 1/2 tons are too floppy and sketchy when you get 2 or 3 bikes in the back. The 3/4 and 1 ton vans are rock solid and this ... more »

Added reply in a thread Turning throttle like door knob? 6/28/2013 10:54 AM

Twisting the wrist instead of dropping your elbow down to turn the throttle. It works well if you're sitting at the front of the seat with your elbows up/out. E-Man-811, I like the screw driver analogy better.

Added reply in a thread The Alessi scrub? 6/28/2013 7:07 AM

Both points here are dead on. Outdoors the scrubs are not as important on all the natural terrain and floater jumps. Most tracks have one or two obstacles where it can make up a fraction of a second in a 2 minute lap. Great for the guys who are already ... more »

Added reply in a thread European 300cc 2 stroke Championship to be launched in 2014‏ 6/25/2013 6:18 PM

Unlike the women's moto at the end of the day, I'll bet people would stick around for the two strokes. Especially if you could get the right group of riders on them. For example if there were a two stroke class this year, that Tabasco Sauce guy might ... more »

Added reply in a thread Brembo caliper on a Honda? 6/25/2013 6:08 PM

The stock brake on a Sky Team Tornado 250 will do that. There's a lot more to be desired in terms of control and feel in a brake than just stopping power.

Added reply in a thread Brembo caliper on a Honda? 6/25/2013 2:56 PM

Hard to say if the caliper flex is a big issue when you consider how much more elastic-flex you'll feel on the hydraulic end. You probably know a lot of this stuff below, but here are some thoughts on brakes. I have 3 different YZs, and I run the 2008 ... more »

Added reply in a thread Chocolate milk or Cytomax? 6/25/2013 12:10 AM

I can drink plain white low-fat milk all day long. One glass of chocolate 2% and I could peel paint with my farts. It is not a good situation. Chocolate soy-milk is where it's at for me. It has protein, some carbs, etc. It has a very slightly different ... more »

I think Brown can get his points this year. If my memory is correct, he ran as high as 5th or 6th position in a moto last year here in Washington.

Added reply in a thread Intermediate national class? 6/24/2013 7:35 AM

I race a 125 in the Vet and 250cc classes locally, so I'm all for it... But, the amateurs are already racing the 250F to be competitive. It would add an extra cost into an amateur situation that is already highly "mortgageworthy".

Added reply in a thread 2015 YZ300? 6/23/2013 9:40 PM

I've had a YZ300 for a year now and I love it. If you're racing the Vet class, 450 class, Open class or anything off-road it's a great bike. The 450F is still a slight advantage, but they don't yard me on the start like a stock YZ250.

Added reply in a thread Duel sport again 6/20/2013 8:37 AM

If it's done right, the big bore kit could be a big bump in power. A few years back a friend of mine had a 2005 YZ250F with a big bore kit (I think it was a 290cc) while another friend had a new stock 2008 YZ250F. I rode both bikes back to back and was

The frame swaps aren't bad. I've ridden a 2002 CR250R (two stroke chassis) with a 1989 CR500R engine. Vibration was horrible, but that's the case with any 500cc two stroke. The bike handled well, I would say it was on par with my 2010 YZ250.| As Sheriff245 ... more »

Nobody wants to see this one man show in either series... I'm a fan of RV, but I'm an even bigger fan of good racing. That said, I think some guys just don't ride that way. Aside from a few Supercross encounters with Jake Weimer and maybe one or two ... more »
