Never really noticed before how pretty those engines are in that big old Maico, pipe is nice also, beautiful bike.

Added reply in a thread Have you ever seen one of these? 6/2/2016 2:24 PM

Remember 'Magura Unbreakable' levers, clutch and brake similar to that. They kind of were not such a nice feeling to ride with, especially the brake, as the plastic was quite soft and when you pulled the brake hard the plastic levers sort of flexed also. ... more »

Wow! A '73 CR250, that is something else. As you say I bet ' he makes the younger men on new bikes look very, very stupid' and bet he gets a right blast (and gloat) out of it also! Yea- surprised more people are not racing oldies, would be great to watch. ... more »

Thats defo a good canditate to show up on that thing and beat the newer bikes - complete with the lights and crazy orange plastics! I guess you would embarrass them more still if the bike was kind of 'odd looking' also. Could try a Rokon or something ... more »

Yea- it sort of is much fairer to imagine the 70's / 80's tracks being used for the comparison. Bet the oldies would get smoked though at the start and straights maybe but with the right rider could still seriously rip. Guess exceptional riders like ... more »

(How well Hurricane or suchlike would do etc..) Guess alot maybe track dependant- if you used old style tracks, it may level it up more, rather than huge triples etc

Bet if Magoo was still around and able to ride; then he would have been the ultimate man and rider to put the Old bike vs. New bike to the test !! The mind boggles at what he may have been able to do on a dinosaur and having the balls to do it!

Added reply in a thread If you wanted to embarrass your friends... 6/2/2016 11:27 AM

Yea- he flew on that thing. I bet though he would also be able to go pretty damn quick on a late 70's one even. ... edit: Aah, just seen the vid above on an old aircooled - there we go. Yes agreed, is all about the rider in many respects even more than ... more »

Reckon he would do really good still. I guess that is what makes the pros pros and how they go that quick seems hard to comprehend or emulate for the mere mortals (always did to me anyway!)

Added reply in a thread If you wanted to embarrass your friends... 6/2/2016 10:58 AM

Guess it depends just how good your friends were and also how good the rider that was riding the old bike ultimately. Sort of guessing but reckon a really good rider maybe able to win on as early as 1975 onwards... Saw a youtube vid a while back of someone ... more »

Coat the rider in it! Then it will all match better and he will crash with less friction!

Reckon if it did not match the Showa Forks then it would look yet worse, or have the forks also been coated with it? Not that I really think it looks bad, just sort of is abit 'unmatched' in someway.

If you do attempt it, then pack the crutches and any luggage very carefully so as not to obstruct anything. Me, (like an idiot) went for a road ride once, packed a coat for the bad weather- somehow I packed it poorly and it worked loose and snagged the ... more »

Added reply in a thread Just stop it already! 4/26/2016 3:19 PM

Yea- defo 'Ban the Beards' and suchlike, lets clean up this sport, good n' proper, once n' for all. Just at what age are beards to be banned? I suggest age 32 no longer permitted. Spiky hair, hmmn, that is abit more difficult to legislate, let me have ... more »

I think the 'Beard Crew' are ace and it looks great also- especially when JB too has the matching beard! What a Team and kind of eccentric but very cool for sure. It gives the Team a real personality and is sort of a fun angle having this sort of look ... more »
