Added reply in a thread Brennan Schofield interview about his Deegan bike claim! 8/15/2022 10:21 AM

Wow.. this amateur B class issue has really gotten out of hand needlessly. Brennan was well within his right to make the claim, regardless of his motives, and the rule is there for a very good reason. I wouldn't bag on Yamaha Corp just yet just because ... more »

The Yamaha guy's threat was essentially black mail.. they could have been better sports and offered to give him the bike at the end of the season or some sort of concession if they didn't want it claimed so badly. Instead they just tried to walk all ... more »

If you use the Boyeson PV spacer, you will not need to dent the pipe. As Sean said, it definitely helps low end and smooths out the power delivery.

I had the Think seat for my CRF450 build also.. yes amazingly light, but the 450 was my rider and I found the seat foam way too hard so I switched out the foam to GUTS racing's lightweight foam. It is not as light as the Think foam but has more give ... more »

I thought it was titanium since it is wound with less coils than a typical spring.. It must be the special HRC alloy spring then. In addition to a titanium spring, I also have one of those HRC special alloy springs and they are indeed wound different ... more »

Such a beautiful piece of moto art. Where in the house will you keep it on display? It looks like you finally went to a titanium shock spring?

Thanks for the expert insights.. I still would think that if they were going to make them out of CNC'd 7075 billet like the standard HRC clamps, they would at least design a cleaner piece rather than work in all the nuances of the oem clamp. Also, why ... more »

I was initially thinking that HRC machined a set of OEM clamps, especially the top one. The top clamp even has the indent in it that they glue the Honda wing logo in as with the production clamps. I wouldn't think they would do that with a dedicated ... more »

I did notice the OP mentioned his top clamp was 54mm and not a 56mm as I would expect for a Showa works 49mm fork.. this is a head scratcher... I am not sure if the latest Showa 49mm upper tubes have recently changed diameter near the cap or not. I am ... more »

The full factory, A-kit and latest OEM 49mm Showa forks all have the same upper tube size, I believe. Also, as the Honda factory team had riders switching between 51mm and the slightly more flexier 49mm forks some years ago, it became problematic for ... more »

For 49mm forks, you need a 56mm upper and 59.3mm lower HRC clamp. For 47mm forks need a 53mm top and 58.5 bottom clamp and for 51mm forks, you need a 58mm upper and 60.7mm bottom. I don't know about this new version of clamp, but the prior versions required ... more »

Thanks for sharing those pics. If the clamps are from Corne, they must be HRC. HRC still had their standard billet clamps in 2019, but from your pics, it looks like they developed another option for Gasjer/ their riders. It looks like they took a standard ... more »

Those don't look like HRC triple clamps to me.. they look like anodized stockers with the casting line in the middle. HRC triple clamps are also very distinctive around the clamp bolts, while these are flat like OEM.

I imagine the power is very linear and looking forward to a test. Every EFI vs a properly jetted carb dyno and track shoot out I have seen had the properly jetted carb making more peak power.. this is because the carb's pressure differential better atomizes the fuel than spraying through an orifice as with the EFI. While the EFI can better adjust itself for varying conditions, it is still limited by its program which might not be 100% perfect either.
