Blake Baggett came into Houston a new rider and looking to improve upon his Anaheim 1 result. That showed from the moment he hit the track, as he put in the fast laps to secure the 7th fastest qualifying time of the day. A strategic gate pick played into Baggett’s favor in the heat race, as his FMF Racing Exhaust system allowed him to put the power down and round the first turn inside the top three. A battle with competitor Weston Peick saw both riders exchange positions several times before Blake made the pass stick on the difficult table-to-double section. He would go on to finish 3rd and transfer straight to the main event.

Blake once again had his starts dialed for the main event, launching out the gate and rounding the first turn inside the top five. He would become entrenched in a battle for position early in the race with several riders before taking over 7th place. From there, Blake hit marks every lap, riding with consistency to finish the night in seventh. After two rounds, Blake moves up to 9th place in Championship points.

“Tonight I felt more confident,” said Baggett.”We made a few changes this week and things are progressing in the right direction. I’m looking forward to Anaheim 2 next weekend and a podium finish .”

Dakota Alix also came into Houston ready to improve upon last week’s ride. Dakota was all business as the gate dropped in his 250SX heat race. He rounded the first turn inside the top five and kept the pace all race to finish 6th and directly transferring to the main event. With his Scott goggles prepped for the main event, Dakota powered out of the gate and again put himself inside the top five after the first lap. Staying focused on the ever-changing track, Dakota held strong to finish the night in 11th place.

Team rider Benny Bloss did not suit up in his Fly Racing gear for Houston, as he is still recovering from his crash last weekend at Anaheim 1. Expect Benny back under the team tent this weekend at Anaheim 2.

After two rounds, Team Rocky Mountain ATV/MC-KTM-WPS now heads back to Angel Stadium of Anaheim in Anaheim, CA round three of the 2018 Monster Energy Supercross Series.
