Hey i read your topic on the 2013 Suzuki RMZ 250 internal hour meter reading process. I followed your steps to the "t" except had an incandecent bulb not led. anywho I used my car battery and a power probe to provide power to the red wire on the black connector , but didnt get any thing to light up. i tried up to 25A but thought i heard a click (fuse blow) on the bike so i stopped everything and connected everything back up and when n test rode the bike, it seems to run and ride normal but im dissapointed i didnt get the hours to read and also wanted to check this "inline fuse you speak of to see if it pop'd? do you know where the fuse is located?

No problem at all. People helped me out and supplied advice when I first started riding and it only makes sense to do the same. I'm a pretty new rider as well. Not so much to the mechanical side of things, but I don't have a lot of seat time. Another ... more »

No, I didn't try running the bike with the light plugged in. And the way you described it would be the smart way to show engine run time, Suzuki doesnt do it this way. You have to have a digital stop watch and start the timer when the second light comes ... more »

Well, I dont know if you have seen my other post, but I figured it out. You should be able to read hours with just your indicator light, a 12 volt battery, some wire, and a stop watch. I don't know for sure if the 250 and 450 are the same concerning ... more »

Ok, I figured it out. Hopefully this will help anyone google searching for this info like I was. I would think a 2013 RMZ 450 would be the same, but this was done on my 250 to read original hours on the bike. You'll need a second person to make it easier.

Cool, thanks. No rush. If you can't that's fine too. I can probably figure it out with a wiring diagram.

That is a nice first bike for sure. Buy a service manual. If you haven't already, I would change the engine oil, coolant, and maybe fork oil and recharge your shock if you are really serious. And install an hour meter. It probably doesn't need to be

Can you do me a favor and let me know which color wires your FI indicator completes the circuit to? Does it plug into where you plug in the different couplers for lean, rich, or standard?

Yeah I actually just made a similar post. I know only the newer models have the hour meter built in. I am not sure which year 450s, but I know only 2013 and up 250s have the engine hour meter in the ECM. Previous years can still use the FI indicator ... more »

Started new thread Reading engine hours on 13 RMZ 250 5/20/2014 6:44 PM

So I just recently bought a 2013 RMZ 250 with one previous owner and want to see how many hours are on it before I put a new hour meter on. Suzuki dealers are no where near me, and I would rather not buy Suzuki's FI indicator light and 12v connector. ... more »

This is pretty awesome. I will have to try this with an old helmet. Good videos too. The beginning of your GNCC race made me laugh. I love the attitude of offroad riders opposed to motocross riders. At least around my area it seems that way. Thanks for ... more »

Thanks for the help everyone. Stooper and Nationalwrench were spot on. I set the powervalve flaps in the head per the manuals instructions, but did not set the actuator correctly. My powervalve was stuck open. I really appreciate the help. Thankfully ... more »

It will be mostly track, but some woods riding also. I have a 125 two stroke. I want a four stroke.

I am going to spend 3 to 4 grand on a 250. I am looking for original or second owner, non rebuilt bikes. Without having a lot of seat time on various newer model bikes- which do you guys recommend? Should I aim for fuel injection, or just a very clean ... more »

First of all, I laughed out loud because when my bike was stolen, it was recovered in Warren Ohio. But second, I am not talking about actually riding it fast. When I ride it on a track, I am only in the powerband or very close to it. I am just curious ... more »

So before I hardly got any rides on my 2003 cr 125, it was stolen. I recovered it, engine seized, laying in a ditch for god knows how long. I rebuilt it, and cleaned the carb. Since the rebuild, it is not how I remembered it. I don't know if its because ... more »

Thanks for the help everyone. I will take the majorities advice and keep the 125 to learn proper technique this season, then look to sell it and get a 250f next season. Thanks again for your opinions.

I actually hadn't thought of that. Id have to ride a 250t for a little while before deciding though. I really love the fourstrokes.

I would love to keep them both for training purposes. It felt like I was cheating when I switched to the 250f. But financially I don't want to maintain two bikes. And I can't tell if you're serious or not, but there is no way in hell I could ride anywhere ... more »
