According to the AMA rule, the mount would be disallowed because it is a modification of the helmet.

Yes, but with 6 laps to go, Savatgy was like 7 positions ahead of Osborne and Smith had crashed out of the race. It seemed like Savatgy had it in the bag.

Added reply in a thread WD40 for chain lube 4/22/2021 10:06 AM

Yeah, all my riding is off-road. I always get O/X-ring chains. Supposedly all the lubrication is sealed in. I WD-40 after washing the bike, just to keep the chain from rusting. I've never had a problem with my chains.

Musquin had at least a 10.2 second lead over Herlings.

Added reply in a thread Largest Time Gaps Overcome? 4/19/2021 1:59 PM

Well, I was trying to phrase things nicer. But really what I am looking for is biggest leads blown. So Stewart had a big comeback, but did the leader ever have a 12+ second lead?

I assume you are thinking about Glen Helen in 2016, when Roczen's air fork broke in the first moto. Dungey led the first 8 laps. Then Roczen took the lead and within 4 laps had a 13.8 second lead! Then he limped home for a 4th-place finish. http://americanmotocrossresults.com/xml/MX/events/M1610/M1F1RES.pdf ... more »

I looked up Tomac at Thunder Valley, and his largest lead (at the end of any laps) was 9.8 seconds: http://americanmotocrossresults.com/xml/MX/events/M1515/M1F2RES.pdf But, yeah, maybe the provision should be that the guy who led the race would still ... more »

At one point Ken Roczen had a 12+ second lead on Cooper Webb. How does that compare for the largest time gaps that a second-place rider has overcome to win a race?

I don't think it says anything about efficacy. It could just be that they don't like the way they feel. For Marv, my best guess is that when he crashed and broke his neck brace a few weeks ago, it may have caused some sort of shoulder injury. Now, wearing ... more »

That worked in his favor. If there had been an easy way off the side of that ramp, the medical crew would have pulled him off the track, and he would be a lap or two down by the time he had gathered himself enough to rejoin the race.

Judging by Justin Cooper's podium comments, they don't ALL understand that.

I can't imagine they would win a protest, because it doesn't look like a rule was violated. But, I think there SHOULD be a rule.

I don't think anybody would intentionally crash to cause a red flag. However, if a rider crashes early, and is still on the track and can't get up right away, he may as well just stay on the track and complain of pain until the red flag comes out.

I'm not sure what your point is. He is supposed to be asking the questions that newcomers to the sport might be asking. He is a conduit to the newcomers. At least that's what NBC hopes.

They already have Daniel Blair in that role. The point of having Rutledge is to be an "everyman".
