Well Robbie is doing the Toyota AMA AX series. His plans are to do all the rounds and go for the title and hopefully gain some sponsorships. Right now he is pretty much doing this all on his own. He is still riding his '06 bikes and will hopfully get them sold soon so he can get some '07's. He is also thinking of trying the Canadian rounds if funds are there for him, since there is no AX's after this weekend until the 1st of Jan. He is taking it one step at a time and doing great so far. I think he is getting his confidence back.
He had a rough start in Des Moines where he didn't even quailfy out of the day program. WOW! So that caused him to do a little soul searching. He knew the start was KEY! So the next night he went out and qualified viz the LCQ in evening program to get in the main. (Robbie doing it the hard way...but he got in) In the main he went out and got the holeshot. He had a little challenge and then pulled away taking the win by 12 seconds over 2nd place. This the 1st time Robbie has seen a podium in years!!!! So a great night and finish to the roller coaster weekend. He left being in 9th place in over all points.
Then my email starts buzzing with congrats on his finishes and people wnating interviews and more info. LIKE I have all the anwsers ...well if I don't I sure do try to find them out.
So then week two comes Albany, NY. Robbie flew and my dad and the Green family drove with him. They are animals. They left late Wed night and made the 23 1/2 hour drive. Robbie won night one with a battle for a few laps with Legend John Dowd. (He is such an awesome rider and person!) And night two he finihed 5th...they said the racing for the top 5 was so close that you "could have thrown a blanket over all of them" Very cheesey line, but you get the picture with it. It sounde like there was some good racing. With the 1st and 5th from the weekend it moved him to 2nd in points only 10 points behind Danny Smith. (who is also having a good season)
I have to say all the Oklahoma boys seem to be kicking some ass in all the classes. So go Okies and Good luck in Reno!
