Ping, from my POV, the issues with sending in a video is multi pronged.
1) For some, it is a technology issue.
2) For others, speaking into a camera is not easy and constantly having to reshoot is a PIA
3) Not everyone is as pretty as a Ping. And a camera is not always the friend of the ugly.
Me, I do get tongued tied on camera, I am old and butt ugly, but mostly, I like to read and reread and edit my words to make sure I am understood.
My mom says hello.

Had bilateral knee replacement surgery in 2017 and it is the best and worse thing in my particular case. Yes the constant pain (similar to being married) is gone. But my doctor was a bit of a hack and I have had post surgery issues unlike many of my fellow replacement friends. So, it took years to get to just riding shape, not racing, and last February when I was finally able to join a gym to really finish the last step and regain muscle strength, WW pandemic hit. Would I do it again? Absolutely, but knowing what I know now, I would use a different doctor and I would only do one knee and wait a year and then do the other. I actually had 5 weeks between surgeries and that last week I was running around like a little monkey. I think I would have recovered faster and seen any pitfalls that I saw too late.
As far as Herlings having trouble with Eli, Zack or Paul Webb, after two nationals Ping got 3 out four wrong.

What makes NJ even more of a sh#those is that the state steals our money. Yep, we pay a “tax” to support 3 NJ run riding parks in North/South and Central Jersey. Seems tat fund is “borrowed” from for other needs and it has been years since the one off road park closed.
NJ just sucks.

JMart has stated he did not want to race a 450 this year. He feels he is still not 100% and wanted to race in the 250 class for a chance to get back the speed and strength he lost from his injury.

ama530 is spot on.
I would like to add though, if we racers/riders want the sport to grow, we have to pitch in and do our part. Which means, plan a day to bring out a new rider and teach them how to ride, where to ride and how to maintain a bike. I personally have zero use for local events at this point in my life. Sitting around all day, shelling out big money for little ride time. If I want to race MX, I attend a VMX race promoted by a club like ACRMX.com . At these smaller VMX club races, with more open rules, you can virtually race all day and with your modern bike too as long as you race a vintage class. Still, I am lucky enough to know a few owners of private tracks and I can get two hours of fun safe MX in at my pace.
For the local tracks, I think two day events might be the answer with longer motos and less down time. Run the novices/vets and Pee Wees on Saturday and get them out earlier and the Experts and Amateurs on Sunday with longer motos and they too would have a shorter day. It will cost the tracks more money, but that might be offset by more entries and perhaps a small increase in fees??? The other thing we need to see is the remaining shops that are still business, need to focus some of their time and money back into the local level racing like we had back in the day.
Unfortunately I see the need for ALL the parties involved to come up with a plan that everyone will work on together towards increasing participation, from the local rider/racer all the way up to the manufactures. And that will only happen when hell freezes over sad

First thing I thought of Shredder! I was frantically scrolling for the comments to write virtually the same thing. I am laughing so hard, it is difficult to type. I bet he got a HUGE pay bump too.
