The issue with US Nationals is the tracks. When it nice weather they are not challenging enough for a rider like Coldenhoff to excel on. US riders are really fast, could beat anyone in the world on the right spectrum of tracks. But when the conditions ... more »
I think whether you pay prize money or not isnt a reflection as to how competitive a series it can be. AMA pays win bonus to guys already on huge salaries & team bonus, where the other 30 riders in the field lapping 20 secs a lap slower get peanuts. ... more »
The fact that you class a race that matters to the fans the most as meaningless & one where a guy pulls over to let a guy win 1 mill what really matters says all we need to know about the problems with US motocross.
True, I think the prize money model is more geared to support the privateer rather then the Herlings type though. The big money comes in via media, sponsorship's & factory support. IMO MXGP does a far better job of media coverage, both online & ... more »
Because unlike you I can make a valid point. Now go brush your teeth it's past your bedtime.
Do you think the AMA nats prize money compares to his KTM GP win bonus ? Gejser, Fevre, Paulin, Deselle would be well paid also.. Despite the lack of prize money, there is still a lot of money being brought into the GP paddock.
Well there you go, you have identified a potential US world champion. Shame he stays domestic..
TBH i was even thinking about RV. RV did his prep with Tyler Rattery, years of GP experience. Bottom line is deep sand is more demanding to learn then SX. SX however is more dangerous. A small mistake at Lommel usually leaves you with a bruised ego. ... more »
I think there is a lot of over thinking going on here.. This can be simplified US riders train on groomed SX timing tracks more. GP riders train on deep gnarly sand tracks more Deep gnarly sand tracks are much more demanding in everyway than the cali ... more »
But when a boxer say's he's the greatest we dont judge him negatively. The reason he says stuff like that is because he, myself & many others grew up in a era where we were all constantly America was the fastest series. People like Mitch Payton prior ... more »
I think the thing with Herlings is, becoming that strong in sand is a really really big deal. Many riders workout how to ride SX. Yes it's very high stakes, but if your a pro level rider your work the timings out. Nowadays all the riders hit the triple, ... more »

IMO US is an easier racing lifestyle then MXGP Yeah there are a lot of races to attend, but the logistics are far easier. There weather is much kinder The SX rounds are at modern comfy facilities The track time racing SX is really low The practice is ... more »
Agree with last two comments completely. Quite sad Plessinger & Decoster are still playing the "Euro" style track excuse. The track was always going to ride different because of the time of year, those of us that have raced a long season would have

I’m probably being naive to some issues that might prevent this, but couldn’t a track / land be found where they could excavate down 1 meter or so, (use so of this first to create cool features etc ) then fill the lowered ground level with sand? Make ... more »
If I was in a shout of a team USA ride or part of the management, I would be reaching out to someone like that 'Belgian rider' to get some progress going. Failing that there is always the videos.
I was just surfing the internet & came up with this little gem from SE. Some good advice regarding riding more euro style, might be of benefit for the next MXON. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t9-OYP4L_v8 Note: There are a few others with checking ... more »

It's an absolute no brainer the AMA series needs a proper sand track. If there isnt one, build it or adapt a current track. Hell if you did that you might even attract some euro wild cards to learn from.

Sorry Jason but your just looking it incredibly pessimistically. Try to see the postives & alternatives. Every point you make could be counted with a flip side. Just look at the amount of money spent on 4 stroke engines at MXGP level. Staff employed ... more »

Yes Ive been to many GP's & MXON. I just think your taking a negative view of the GP's, and are looking back with rose tinted specs. The days of driving around racing the worlds best is gone. Technology costs, fuel ...

Isnt there a 2 stroke class for the guys that are too old for emx 250 ? Im not saying wait & see. YS manages the fastest & deeped classes in MX period. There is not a series that offers anything like the standard the GP's offer. MXGPTV is producing ... more »
