Accelerator pump style carb... the three twists of the throttle should’ve given you three good shots of fuel... make sure that’s working correctly as well

Can you blow through all the orifices of the carb and jets and feel air on both sides? Stuck hot start, plugged pilot, Tight valves, low compression these are all possibilities; although The lack of fuel on the plug would lead me to believe you still ... more »

Personally, I prefer Air pencil grinders over a dremel. They’re less bulky and more maneuverable... another bonus is they’re available with a 90 degree head... I have a Sioux for the 90 degree head, and a cheap Chinese knock off for the straight... I ... more »

Then be prepared to retire... I’ve seen way too many destroyed cases from bad cranks, transmissions breaking, worn out bearings, etc... it’s the nature of the sport, I’d rather use a shorter service intervals than take a chance and push it longer... ... more »

Cylinder and piston look like they’re in very good condition, just deglaze it with some red scotch brite and some penetrating oil or oven cleaner... You can get a brush hone if you’d like but it’s not necessary... nikasil Can’t technically be honed without ... more »

X2 on vapor blasting. It leaves an amazing finish... nothing compares to it... I have a small vapor blasting cabinet large enough to fit cases; absolutely love it... If you end up going the vapor blasting route just make sure you clean the cases of all ... more »

A crankcase leak shouldn’t cause a loss of compression... It will create a lean or rich condition pending on where the leak point is... what was the condition of your cylinder like? ring gap? Piston to wall? How much compression do you have? Has it been ... more »

If I remember correctly the newer cylinders and heads will swap over... they made changes in both port timing, and compression ratio... the cases and crank do not they use a different crank half and main bearing... OP if you’re not a pro who’s wfo all ... more »

I agree... Find a different shop. Plain and simple that cylinder is hurt... my highlighted area may also be melted piston (Although I doubt it)... If it is it can be removed with some muriatic acid... If the shop didn’t even bother to run a hone through ... more »

Wet sand with 360 or 400 grit... get some good fine line tape 1/8th or 1/16th... green 3m masking tape works great... stay away from low tack... rattle cans can be tricky... any type of fade is really hard with spray paint the paint doesn’t like to “melt” ... more »

Im still going to say no, but you can De-glaze it see how it looks... this is more of an issue than the scratches...

No.... those scratches are too deep, and it looks like there’s some plating damage as well below the exhaust port...

He’s pretty much spot on as far as what you should be looking for... if it’s running fine that rules out the only other thing that would cause an increase in clearance which would be a bent valve... 3.5mm is a rather large shim; I don’t ever recall using ... more »

Did you run the AV gas prior to the rebuild? My understanding of AV gas is it’s a slightly slower burning fuel and burns richer... so some mapping changes may be necessary... If it ran fine on AV gas prior... check your TPS, valve clearances /timing, ... more »
