Vapor blasting, and then a direction cut of the letters with either some scotchbrite or sand paper on a block would make that cover look new...

Just rebuilt a set of these today... no adjuster on the spring side it’s a blank bolt... the only adjustment on the spring side is the preload and an air bleed screw... the opposite fork has both rebound and compression adjustment...

That’s normal; it’s a compression release hole. It angles into the exhaust port...

He’s correct you are definitely going to alter port timing. I’m assuming you knew that however... you may end up at a point where in order to set correct squish you may need to remove material off of both the cylinder and the head and possibly end up ... more »

.063” wouldn’t bother me... just make sure to bond the gaskets together... I used to love Gasgacinch as a gasket sealer/ contact cement but as so many other chemicals the formula changed and it works poorly imo now... As odd as this is going to sound ... more »

Change valve springs too... as long as the valves are sealing fine and the seats are still Ok...

if the service manual lists 24 ft-lbs then that’s the correct spec and not a TTY bolt... Some Yzf’s use a torque angle procedure to achieve final torque value (just because a bolt is tightened using this method doesn’t not mean it’s definitely TTY)... ... more »

It’s very possible the damage is old... the piston itself shows no sign of corresponding damage... and the damage to the cylinder is above the ringland so it wouldn’t cause a loss in compression (that being said that cylinder has clearly had foreign ... more »

Check runout/ trueness... also measure the the side clearance between the thrust washer and the throw... If you have no idea of the actual amount of time on the rod and bearings I would Recommend replacing/ rebuilding it...

X2... If you didn’t split the cases and clean the sump odds are you’ve starved it for oil...

If inner and outer basket are not notched... check a few thing : Spring Length, the fibers could be too thin, pressure plate could be worn... And sometimes, the pushrod for the clutch can wear and cause a loss of clutch throw...

First, The camshaft position dictates what stroke you’re on... Second, it wouldn’t run if you were 180 degrees off... Third, as stated above, it sounds like you didn’t reset the cam chain tensioner causing the timing chain to be so tight it’s basically ... more »

Sounds like combination of problems... possible air leak, stuck float and a seizure... just because you can kick it back over and it’ll fire again For a brief moment doesn’t mean the piston didn’t lose lubrication and stick to the cylinder wall at one ... more »

This is a definite possibility... I’d start by removing the primary gear and see if the crank is still bound...
