This is turning out awesome! I love the yellow rims. I think you did a really classy mix of new and older plastic styles, too. It looks like a factory bike from the early 2000s. Super clean!

I think this was 1988, but maybe a Surf look?

Have fun with it! I've really enjoyed your builds here and on Instagram, so I'll be following along!

Yes, they generally put "alternative part" in bold lettering on parts that aren't original. It'll say something like "Non O.E. Alternative" in the description, too. The bike looks awesome, by the way!

CMS has them, though they're a bit expensive: https://www.cmsnl.com/products/fender-fror254r_61110kz4j30za/

The '89s had silver upper fork tubes and the '90s had red. A few other differences: the seat cover ('89 just had Yamaha logos, '90 also had white speed blocks), the handlebars ('89 had gold handlebars, '90 had red), the fork guards ('89 only protected ... more »

I don't race anymore, so I pull them at the truck and put them in the bin. I just use them to keep the lens clean during the day. They're wasteful for sure, though.

I would think most of the tooling is long gone, so that would all have to be recreated, which wouldn't come cheap. My guess is that it would end up close to the cost of current two-strokes.

Nice! That one is definitely roached, but beggars can't be choosers! Maybe I could reupholster it or something, haha. Would you be willing to part with it? I picked up some NOS Easton bars a while back, but the pad was long gone, so I'm trying to track ... more »

Voted for you! Love the build, Ryan! It turned out super clean. I saw it on Instagram before I knew anything about this contest and straight up thought it was a barn find, haha.

Hey All, I'm looking for one of these early Answer ProTaper pads. NOS would be great of course, but I'm good with a used one, too. I'd even consider a completely roached one at this point, haha.

If you have one you're willing to sell, ... more »
