Trampas Parker 1989 125. Not sure if this was a full factory bike.

Reply to Which twinshock bike to get? 11/27/2020 12:49 PM

Clearly no-one has any advice to give you, which makes a change, so I would like to offer you my opinion on this. I would suggest a Yamaha. Suzukis are very nice but parts are getting hard to find, Kawis are even worse and Hondas are getting more expensive ... more »

Romero Motos in Barcelona did one for Bultacos so it has been done before, not sure about an RM though.

Reply to 1979 Yamaha YZ125 clutch adjustment help... 9/11/2020 12:57 AM

No problem at all, pleased it helped you out. This manual is of no use to me as I sold my 125 a number of years ago. I forgot to include it with the bike but had no contact details for the guy who bought the bike, so it has sat in my garage ever since. ... more »

I still have a copy of the original owners handbook for a YZ125F so I thought I would take a look in there to see what it says.

Hope this is helpful. ... more »

Reply to False neutral! 12/15/2018 1:18 PM

Have a ride on a mid-70s Bultaco and you will suddenly realise where the expression "false neutral" comes from. The engineering back in those days was not quite at the level we have today, and it was very common for a rider to miss a shift. The "throw" ... more »

Any bike should work on a turbo trainer but it would be worth fitting a road tyre to the back wheel. A nobbly mountain bike tyre on a turbo would drive you insane very quickly. Another option would be this: This uses magnets

The best way to get a stuck rotor off is to put the puller on it, tighten it and heat up the rotor with a heat gun, then get a reasonably heavy hammer and give the end of the puller a good whack. Always worked for me.

What size engine in your KX? PVL ignitions need a high cranking speed to generate a spark, so they can struggle to start big engines because of the lower cranking speed when kicked over compared to a small engine like a 125.

Pretty sure 14/46 is the standard gearing. I guess it depends on the type of track you ride. If it is tight and twisty maybe put a 48 on the back.

Rod Spry in the UK is selling some CCMs. A 1979, a 1974 and a rare 1972. They won't be cheap though. This is the 79 bike:

It is a 1979 yz125. I am pretty sure the DT barrel is basically the same as the IT barrel, but I might be wrong. When I tried putting the barrel on the YZ cases I found they did not match. The barrel was wider than the cases. We made a 5mm thick spacer ... more »

Here is a pic of my old 125 and the 175 engine is on the ground in front of the bike. Unfortunately I do not have any pics of the engine showing the spacer plate.
