Yeah my bad. I know they don't make a conversion, but I was thinking that was the cup they used on the post. I didn't realize it was integrated into the post, I thought is was removeable. Just a senile old man.

The SDI "valve stopper", as KYB calls it, is close to yours, but much different than the one used in the F's. The SDI is 20mm OD and 18mm at the bottom of the cup and only .030" deep. But, has a sleeve recess in the top and and no relief in the bottom.

Yeah I really don't think I want any preload on the stack, but at this point I'm not for sure. I guess the first set up will more or less be a crap shoot.

The interesting thing is my bike is set up pretty much like yours. I'm on .47 / 5.6 springs with the '09 F swingarm and 143.5 linkage, but I'm about 180#, riding all XC stuff. I like a more active and plush suspension in the first part of the travel ... more »

Great write up cwtoyota. What I'm wondering is what sort of shims stacks guys are coming up with. I have a few of the SDI cups and would like to start working with them. If the '22's have them before to long we'll know what KYB is doing for them, but ... more »

Just wondering if anybody has messed with YZ250 / 125 leaf spring mid valve conversions and if it's really worth the pain?

I have ran both but never above 50:1 and that was in big bikes above 250cc. 250's at 40:1 and smaller bikes at 32:1 to 20:1. Never had an oil related issues with any CASTOR based oils, really. A747 was my bench mark for years, until it got to hard to ... more »

So now there is a "B" tube? What's different about the "B"? As far as the straight section diameters are concerned, the 113 / BLUE combo is basically the same as a 114 / RED.

I think the KX tubes are a little shorter.

I would suggest going to the blue needle and 3.0 on the air screw and see what that does for you. You may have to drop a main size with that. The air screw is a big tuning factory with the STIC. Normally when you get them dialed you can make all your ... more »

Are you running a 113A tube with the RED needle?

I have two 2019+ YZ85 cylinders that have plating damage that should make good serviceable cores for re-plating or for super mini builds. I can post photos if you're interested and need to see them. $150.00 shipped for both. PM if interested.

I have a newer Power Valve YZ85 here with some problems. I don't mess with these very often and I can't find my notes. I was thinking the stock, "plug in" volume was about 7.5cc, but I'm not for sure. Does anyone know for sure what the "plug in" volume ... more »

I downloaded your spread sheet a while back and it's pretty cool. Thanks. Funny thing is ( if I remember right ) some of the manuals differ in what they say the stock timing spec should be. I'm thinking some of them spec like .0070" and others are like ... more »

The stock squish clearance on the current YZ250's runs about .074". Simply getting down to under .055" makes a huge improvement, if you put the volume back. I like about .042" to .045". And yes, you can run pump gas that tight, especially if you ease ... more »

I've set a few YZ's up with the "X" CDI ( better than retarding the timing, IMO ) and "X" power valve spring mod, along with lowering the compression with a head cut. Really smooths out the power and adds some rev's. I also love the DEP pipe and shorty ... more »

Good information guys. Thanks a bunch. An hours drive is pretty comparable to what I have to do now just to ride. Racing is 1 to 3 hours, sometime a little more. So that's pretty comparable to what I'm doing now. Very cool.
